A lot came from JMU where he did the same thing.

This IU team is probably the last of a dying dream: a group of guys who have played & been coached together for multiple years.
OP’s scenario is going to get more probable as every team gets weaker through constant roster turnover.
Again, we’re not far from every school running the same, basic offense & defense because of the lack of continuity & experienced rosters

You realize Bama won championships for years by illegally paying players more than they could get elsewhere, right?

Their billionaire donor came out the day after they lost and said he's throwing even more money at next years team. Not sure if they have the coach to win it all but it won't be from a lack of talent or going cheap.

Looks like they (Tx Tech) aren't going anywhere and have plenty of money to spend, they paid for and probably got the top QB in the portal.

Is There Anything That Could Stop Someone From Straight Buying a Championship?

The short answer is yes.

Here is an article that seems to confirm what happens when you DON'T try to buy a championship.

The only thing to stop them would ba a lack of big time boosters. You worried?

Yes.

The money spent is just a prerequisite to winning. There are other parts, the coaching and general intangibles that must also be there.
