Everything is pretty much cleaned up but still a lot of open lots and land. Some big new developments are suppose to be announced soon that are suppose to bring retailers not in Tuscaloosa currently or even in the state of Alabama yet. Mayor Maddox is being very strict about the rebuilding and what can and can't build in the main area of town. He has done a GREAT job and has a great vision for the city. May take a little longer rebuild by doing this but will be a lot better in the long run. You can already see that it will be rebuilt newer, bigger, and better. I am thinking all the new developments will have the Midtown Village type feel built a few years ago.

If you think the 15th street business was bad, just pan East to Alberta.

Try driving to the Moon Winx motel sign, great roadside icon and a tour through empty lots that give the Mad Maxes.

The same tornado that hit Tuscaloosa also hit Pleasant Grove, AL. Google Maps has updated satellite images of Pleasant Grove so if you want to get an idea of how destructive it was just look up this city on Google Maps.

Speaking of that area of Alberta City that was hit so hard, the most incredible Tuscaloosa tornado video other than the duarte family video came from that area. I'm not sure how many people saw it on YouTube back when the tornado hit but it's probably the most incredible video of the tornado. It pulls up if you type "facing deadly Tuscaloosa tornado".

T Town is a gem, I don't understand how it isn't brimming with sprawl like Birmingham.

I think that might be the miracle of Tuscaloosa, is how it retains the best parts of the city as it grows.

Have you seen the Fultondale tornado video which was the same tornado that went throught Ttown? It's the one where the guy films it from his 2nd floor apartment breezeway and it's almost pitch black dark and all you hear is a roar.

I'm glad the mayor and city are taking their time redeveloping the damaged area. It has the potential to be a really nice area.

Agreed. I think it will be developed the right way this time. You can look at the downtown revitalization and tell they know what they are doing. Downtown looks really nice now and is booming.

The Full Moon BBQ is coming up across McFarland from where it was. Looking nice. The Krispy Kreme is coming up in its original location.

Saw the damage for the first time a few weeks ago. The remains of the hospital clearly visible miles away was an eerie sight.
