If my accounting department accidentally overpays a salaried employee, I am certainly going to either have the employee give the money back or deduct it from future pay. I don’t know what business you are running, but I suspect almost everyone would do the same thing as LSU.

These situations are not comparable since football coaches get extensions all the time but I’ll play your game. If that employee made you back 10xs more than you expected and you asked for the money back you would lose that employee.

Eh, we’re paying him 9.5 million dollars before his incentives hit. He is adequately compensated as is as is and probably has 0 problems getting 1 million dollars earlier.

He just signed a 10-year contract, he’s not going anywhere and doesn’t need an extension.

It's pretty evident that OP does not hold any type of "professional" position.

His "knowledge" of simple business and finance is pretty terrible.

Nick Saban in 2021

Did you even try researching before you responded?

After 2020 Saban got a salary bump up to 9.7 mil per year
After 2021 he got a salary bump up to 11.7 million per year.
I’m telling you I did the research. LSU is the only program in the SEC that didn’t give their coach a raise after an SEC championship appearance.
Nick Saban signs new 8 year deal.

Lol. I own a 3 million dollar company and I’m currently in negotiations to acquire a 7.7 million dollar company.
Why? Because I pay my employees what they are worth.

Your link is dated August 23, 2022.

It isn't even February yet.

Sure, BK has no issue with it yet somehow ESPN found out about it. Try to google and find another power 5 team who’s taken money back from a currently employed HC in any sport. I dare you.

1. The link was provided because you claimed Saban didn’t get a raise after 2021.
2. Do you think there is any chance Bama would’ve asked for 1 mil back when we started paying him 2 million per year more 7 months later? Only LSbrokeassU would do that.

They aren't "taking money back."

He basically just got an advance on his salary, he can now invest that money and reap the return of their error.

Anyone with a simple understanding of economics can see that's a positive and not a negative.

Oh Cuyler, you should try reading the link. You are the one who agreed with Whoopi. You did it to yourself again, buddy.

He didn't, as of January 25, 2022.

Which is the timeline you're comparing it to.

If you decrease someone’s salary by the same amount they were overpaid the year before you are taking the money back over 12 months. Are you the dumbass LSU accountant that made the overpayment error?

False.

He's getting the same amount he signed his contract for but instead, he's getting a million of it much sooner.

That's a good thing, even though I know you don't understand that.

Once again I’ll ask you if Alabama(or any team except for LSU) overpaid Saban by 1 million dollars and we’re currently in contract negotiations to increase his salary by 2 million per year would they ask him to take a pay reduction of 1 million for that year?

Either A) BK isn’t getting an extension or
B) LSU is idiotic for asking for the money back.
Which is it?
