I admit we do have respect for them. Shared past coaches, Stallings, Bryant, etc., and amazed when they beat us in Tuscaloosa with JFF.

No. High school football in most of Texas is a joke. No matter how much money A&M has with a few notable exceptions high school athletes living west of college station play soccer and baseball.....there isn’t the cultural tie to football that those of us in the south have ..... and make no mistake, Texas is the Midwest, it ain’t the south. Football is l8ke BBQ in Texas....over hyped and almost unconsumable. A & M is a good fit for the SEC because it is an island of southern culture in a sea of Indiana’esque midwesterness.....but it’s being an island means it’s isolated from the lifeblood that is the soul of the real power center of the best conference in CFB. A&M will have some good years....but it’s not the sleeping giant that Florida was for All but 20 years of its existence or that Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU and even South Carolina are to this day. A&M will be in a race to be the first new school in the conference to win a sec title....A&M, USC and Arkansas could all do so occasionally......Mizzoo will NEVER win an SEC football title......and A&M will, over time, win more titles than USC or Arkansas....but they will never be a SEC blue blood because they ain’t culturally pure enough to be.....they are tainted by their ideological if not geographical proximity to Detroit and Chicago instead of Birmingham and Atlanta.....

Fisher will be A&Ms Mark Richt....it’ll look bright then it won’t.

Dude couldn’t coach at the easiest school in the south to be a contender......FSU has a rabid fan base willing to do anything to win and years of experience doing so and avoiding getting caught. They have no standards at all about who can matriculate in Tallahassee....they are worse than Oklahoma in this respect....and they are located in a state where football is more than a religion and they can take any and all of the states best athletes regardless of their intelligence or character. Fisher won’t find that in College Station.

What he will find is a recruiting base that is way over rated in a state where athletes are more likely to play soccer or baseball than football....and a fan base who likes the idea of winning but is light years behind in seeing their end of the bargain is fulfilled without getting caught. The proof is in the programs well known wealth....you can’t use that money to but titles....you gotta use money no one knows about. Fisher was a good hire, an improvement, but he is a well known quantity in a much better situation at FSU and one who was struggling.....

Jimbo is most likely the final piece of the puzzle

I don’t think any of the other things you mention make any difference and if hiring a “NC winning coach” was all they needed, they could have hired Les Miles....or Mack Brown.....or Larry Coker.....or some other guy who struck gold through the good fortune of having an elite QB.....for a whole lot less money. I’d be shitting my pants if I was an A&M QB if I watched FSU’s pass protection the last 2 years.

Texas A&M has the most money, arguably the top facilities, NC winning coach, only SEC school in Texas.

Have the Texas Longhorns packed up and moved out of Texas??? A&M is still the little brother school in their own state. This is why A&M has never been a perennial national champion contender for any stretch in their school’s history. Oklahoma might as well be the other elite school as 1b in Texas since that is where they get their players from.

Jimbo will do no better than Sumlin...maybe worse.

You can tell by Jimbo’s haggard face that he’s finished.

Somehow 170+ Texas high school kids are earning the NFL check and I'm guessing they aren't all from Houston.

Good point tho, Dallas and Austin are often confused with Chicago and Detroit.

For many years, the DFW area is the best high school football region in the state and it isn't close.
