If you are just looking and W/L record over past 20 years no, not much of one, but rest assured the hate runs deep in that nasty river

No. They spend more time defending each other than anything else. And you will never see the alleged rivalry play out among the fans in other contexts. Meaning, they don't really care except for one day a year.

Each side cherishes the game, not because it's a hated rivalry, but because they believe it strengthens their brands.

On the "brand" part of this... I think it is relevant simply because Texas and OU fans realize and appreciate the fact that there is no other game like it.

The Cocktail party is similar... but not quite the same ambiance around the game... and WGCP will never be as intense AT the game as long as the crowd is split long ways instead of at the 50.

And no home and home rivalry can replicate the environment.

So yes, it enhances the brand.

As far as the hate part... OU fans hate the Longhorns for the exact same reasons the Aggies and everybody else hates 'em. That part shouldn't be hard.

The problem with the Aggie perspective on this game is that Aggies share the same hate for OU and the contempt for Okies that the Longhorns have. No matter how you slice it... Aggies are still Texans.

Ultimately, Aggie is just jealous because they are on the outside looking in...and the duplicate rivalry with Arkansas at Jerry's just can't come close to the RR game (although a lot of that is Pig's fault for not being competitive).

Stop …. A rivalry means you are competive vs the other team more than often than not …. Bama vs LSU isnt a rivalry ….

We hate Texas more than any other team can hate someone and vice versa …. You’re getting confused because we came to the sec to dominate and keep the rivalry going ! If we stayed in the big 12 we would be left behind !

So I am one those people that respects and loves the rivalry and RRS, but I don't hate OU. Sure I participate in the OU Sucks! chant, however it's all in good fun. I don't actually hate Oklahoma, Oklahomans, Bob Stoops, and University of Oklahoma.

Truth be told, I grew up in the Texas Panhandle and those darn Okies (Razorbacks & Aggies too honestly) are actually very similar to my roots. I respect their athletic accomplishments and cherish having such a worthy "enemy".

Yeah, yeah, I am "ghey" and all that. Hook 'Em and bring it on on in Dallas!

The night before the game used to be wild in downtown Dallas. The 10:00 news would have a running arrest count.

Since the 90s it’s changed to sitting on patios and drinking margaritas.

we have 3 schools that feel this way. if things go right, there will be some more.

at some point, we just play football, and let the media worry about what's a rivalry. i can already tell you right now i am more hyped for the georgia game than any other.

this stuff is not contained anymore like it used to be.

Behold the aggy hot take!

There is no fanbase in America that gets more chapped about another rivalry than aggy. Our new conference mates might wonder why that is. The answer is simple:
aggy has built their entire identity- fight song to chants to every breath of every day- in being THE rival to the dreaded "sips, whorns, tu, etc."
The problem they have is that we don't hate them. We hate the Sooners because they are thieving scumbag dregs of humanity and every game is a knife fight.
We laugh at aggy. Always have and always will. It is built into the DNA of the state. Like any little brother, the fact that their hatred and envy is only met with laughter chaps them to no end.

Prepare to see a nonstop barrage of posts like the above this week.
Envy is a stinky cologne, and these guys are ripe!
