that they didn’t make the 5 for 5 rule change not effective starting with the 2023 class? Admittedly I haven’t been keep up with this closely, but wouldn’t that have solved all this nonsense?

Sadly, yes.

No one at the NCAA is able to foresee 2 days into the future.

Somehow Stankey and the SEC would still sue LSU.... regardless.

Yes. Too many people have no idea what's actually going from legal standpoint and those that hate LSU get giddy when they have zero clue what's actually happening.

That’s unbelievable but not surprising. I don’t blame LSU, I’d be doing the same.

Issue I have is they’ve legitimately open the door for a future player to head to the NFL after year 4, and then if they don’t get drafted or make the team they can come back for year 5.

I honestly don’t know what’s dumber. That the NCAA did this the way they did or the sec commissioner walking into court and telling them he had not read the rule that he was there to testify about.

College sports is run by lazy moronic bureaucrats.

The sad part is they were TOLD the major deficiencies in the rule and timing and completely ignored them. Total incompetence.

No, the players argument in this case is that they were not informed they had a 5th year of eligibility until months after the NFL draft this year. This will not be a recurring event each year. This applies only to the class of 2022

Not really.

Everyone is aware of the rules going forward.

This was so easily foreseeable and avoidable.

Of course players that just ran out of eligibility would say “wait, you changed the rule so now I have another year right?” … 100% of people would
