For years, LSU fans coped by taking solace that eventually Saban would retire. They told themselves that when he finally left, they would rule the SEC West, stacking up SEC west titles like cord wood. And now Saban is gone.
But the very first year without Saban, there are no longer divisions. There is just the SEC title. To make it even more bittersweet, we also have Texas and Oklahoma jumping into the conference.
So even though Saban is gone, has the path to a new SEC banner become even more difficult for LSU?

This is a nice try, but watching your team flee for the portal and half your fanbase quit for the NFL has been plenty enough to sustain LSU fans.
The divisions are irrelevant with the 12 team playoff anyway.

I feel bad for you guys. This was supposed to be your time. Everything was going to change when Saban left. But not like this.
Hope had her eyes on you once. She whispered to you that as soon as Saban was gone, you were next. But that was a few years ago. Now she is out on a date with Texas, she has been flirting with Lane, and we know Georgia had his way with her for a couple of years. She is still hung up on him and answers his calls on the first ring. She was supposed to ask you to the dance. But it looks like that has changed.

Bama showed that the SEC title is totally meaningless and that it's all about the NC.
Playoffs expand to 12 teams next season. LSU is lined up to be in that number. Is Alabama?

Your God just retired. Alabama hired someone who has had some success but hasn't coached a season in the SEC yet, and the players are bailing out left and right.
