The NCAA acknowleedges Tennessee as having 2 championships, regardless of how many "poll champions" they are listed for.
The NCAA acknowledges Tennessee as having 6 championships, and has done so every year since they won 6.
You can't just take a single thing that one source says and claim it's the definative list when the same source provides multiple lists. I would think that is very obvious, but apparently not.

UT could actually claim 7. They don't claim 1956.

The one I linked is on the NCAA site, and is the one the schools quote.
You just don't get it, LSU has trophies they've accepted as national champions. Those trophies are in a case. That's how many championships the school acknowledges.
LSU doesn't go to a 'book' to count their national championships, they go to the actual trophies. And, let me add, of which they have more than any other school in the SEC - in 8 different sports. So it's quite a 'case'.
But I see you just want to be obstinate, and unreasonable. A reasonable person would accept my link as authoritative for national football championships.
But getting back to the OP, even on your list Tennessee doesn't have more championships than LSU. The Tigers were winning championships LONG before the Vols.

Oh, I don't get it? If you mean do I get the thinking of the average idiot, you're right, I don't get it.
You put up a list from the NCAA and then I put up a list from the NCAA. We both have lists from the same source, yet you insist that the one you prefer must be the one that everybody believes. You're darn right I don't get that.

That's funny. LSU consults the same source everybody else does:

Since 2000, LSU has been way better than Tennessee. I know UT fans seem to think they are coming back but I just don't see it myself. UT has passed its prime and will eventually get passed by several teams

So other team freak out when only AP titles are used hu? I was always told it was only Bammers.

top tier facilties, tradition, huge stadium, passionate fanbase, huge recruting budget, elite recruiting classes, one of two teams to have never lost more than 7 games in a season...
you hope we aren't coming back, but we have all the means to do so, and we are on the correct trajectory (finally)

You've played this card way too many times. Move it back 3 years and we have as many as LSU in that time frame.
Pick the date that fits your agenda. Classic.

You're right.
UT: 20-9-3 vs LSU
no expiration date on that one.
