Is Stricklin in control in Gainesville?

I don’t believe Scott Stricklin would have pulled the plug on Mullen.
So, Florida posters, y’all know how things work down there. Who’s in control? Are we gonna get leaks & rumors on this coaching search?

How did it go at MSU? Maybe he is the King there now at UF.

I heard he ripped Mullen's balls off after South Carolina. In the tunnel in front of people.
I think he's handled things great. You think he's his buddy but he ain't.

I saw that report too. Unfortunately, we state fans have the benefit of knowing the guy (strick) pretty well. I can say this with confidence...there's no way in hell that tunnel incident happened, and there's no way in hell Strick unilaterally pulled the trigger today. He did what he was told today, like the good little fundraiser he is.

Stricklin‘s on the hot seat himself. Google Florida women’s basketball, Cam Neubauer.

Yeah he emasculated Mullen in front of a lot of people.

I have heard he mostly is though he is on shaky ground. Our big boosters have power but I don't think its quite as much as places like LSU and Auburn. If he wanted someone he can probably persuade them its a good choice.

This downward spiral all started when Cam Newton threw a stolen laptop out of a window.
Damn you Cam !

Either way Mullen is fired. Action was taken very quickly.
I remember MSU fans loving Stricklin before he left.

Nothing Dan’s wife hasn’t been doing to him for years

Never thought they were buddies at all.
It just didn’t seem to be a move Scott would make. Not on his own, at least

Interestingly enough, Stricklin addressed this in the press conference unprompted. He basically said Florida offers potential coaches a very clear organization and well defined chain of command. He said other universities you may hear about trustees and boosters actually running things behind the scenes, but here at Florida he is in full control of the athletic department.
That raised an eyebrow for me. Maybe it's true? But when people out of nowhere say "No problem here!", it makes me suspicious about there being a problem. Ever since Stricklin arrived theres been a rumor about the previous long-standing AD having a loyal faction and that he's still pulling some strings. The old AD still works in the building. Not sure to what degree he interferes though.

Your old AD is to keep the old money and their kids involved. The new AD is to mingle with the new money. 40-50 something's like doctors, lawyers, and business owners. The new money kids want to be wined and dined and given the perception they have power and they do somewhat. The old money people want their names on buildings. Their wills have been drawn up already. They just need to be reassured that the 100 million they leave to Florida isn't going to be ruined. There is definitely balance and a fine line that needs to be walked/woven in the power money structure so it is good to have some old guards around while letting the young bucks go to battle. I like Scott but he comes across as the fratty type entertaining the debutantes wives by refilling their glass. Greg Byrne on the other hand is the man in the room that has all the billionaires buying him drinks and asking for cigar and bourbon recommendations.

Eh, he was incorrectly associated with Mullen’s success by some. Cohen is much more aggressive and has been much better.
