I think it is. I would say at least in the conversation.
Let’s dive in, shall we.
1. Barely an overall winning percentage. .513
2. Zero national championships obviously.
3. 1 conference championship.... let me repeat. 1 CONFERENCE championship and that was 50 years ago.... in the ACC.
4. 9-14 all time bowl record. Hell.... they’ve only been to 23 bowl games??? Wtf. How is that even possible?
5. No hope.... there’s none.
Shut it down! Shut it down I say!!

Assuming you mean FBS programs only, yes. With their recent success I think you would put them above programs like Wake Forest and Kansas.

no because they have a winning record against Mississippi State. A&M on the other hand does not so they are the worst ever historically.

state college/starksville may or may not have them beat.

Here’s something to think about.
Both wake and Kansas have at least been to a bcs bowl.

Terrible standard. We would have gone several times if not for the 2-team per conference limit. I mean, for God's sake in one year we finished #4 overall and beat Clemson and UCF - both of whom went to BCS bowl games.
I think we're the only team to have that claim. Not sure though.
As per the 1 conference title, no doubt it is garbage but we have spent about half our history as an independent.

Mississippi State is 563-578-39 all time for a whopping .494 winning percentage.

Crazy yes but I believe SC got screwed a few years by the no more than 2 teams from one conference rule.
Spurrier had 3 consecutive top 10 finishes at one point, inlcuding a #4 finish.. WF finished #17/18 in their OB season, Kansas finished #7 in theirs

Lol, I know a Falcons fan isn’t talking shite considering the joke of a franchise that Atlanta has.

And yet their fans provide one of the toughest environments in the country. Those home games during the Spurrier heyday were awesome

Look at Kansas St pre Snyder. It makes South Carolina look like a juggernaut

No.
Looking at the list by winning pct, South Carolina (at .513) is ahead of power 5 teams like
NC State, Baylor, Illinois, Wazzu, Kentucky, Vandy, Duke, Miss St, Kansas, Oregon State, UConn, K-State, Iowa State, Northwestern, Indiana, Wake Forest.

Vanderbilt is 606-620-50 all-time. A winning percentage of .495.

I don’t think SC fans really care about the historical evaluation of their team. It’s nonetheless a “big time” SEC program that serves as the flagship of its state. They’ll always pack the stadium and recruit ~ 20 classes coupled with NFL talent.
Tell me if I’m wrong SC fans, but wouldn’t y’all be happy with consistent 9-10 win seasons in the near future? I don’t think they’re fantasizing about national championships anytime soon. The Wake / KU comparison is unfair. Those are very low tier . I’d SC is above the Wake tier, and accompanied by top tier football atmosphere.

But A&M has never lost to SCAR

They have had some good teams over the years but never could get over that hump to get to that next level. They have come close a couple times with Spurrier and Morrison. Morrison had some very good teams but unfortunately Morrison passed away and his replacement failed. Spurrier built that program up and were close to that next level but he quit giving a shite and gave up.
