I'm hearing that Pruitt struck Mark Richt when the head coach informed Pruitt that he was being let go. "I shouldn't be the fall guy here."

Those conversations produced the following conclusions:

Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity favored a coaching change after last season but was overruled by president Jere Morehead. Richt was then given a contract extension.
Regardless of the ultimate decision on Richt this time, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt almost certainly will not be back, as his relationship with Richt and Georgia administrators has grown toxic.
Georgia does not have one or two mega-boosters with the influence to make the call on Richt, but the displeasure of the Bulldogs' high-dollar financial supporters has made its way to Morehead's office.
If Richt stays, it will be with a coaching staff that looks very different as first-year offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has also been viewed as a problem.

Multiple people told USA TODAY Sports that McGarity has a very high opinion of Mississippi State's Dan Mullen from their time together at Florida. Though that does not necessarily line up with Foley's opinion of Mullen — he was not considered a candidate for the Florida opening after last season — Georgia is a job that worries Mississippi State athletics director Scott Stricklin, according to one person with knowledge.

If Richt is gone, UGA needs to pull the trigger on a guy who will instantly be one of the top few coaches in the league

You're in going to think I'm trolling you by saying this, but Dooley had about the same experience level coming in to UT, and Butch Jones had a very similar resume of success at a lower level.

Dooley had a losing record at Louisiana Tech, he shouldn't have even been considered.

Jones at least has had a winning record everywhere he's been. I still think he was a Meh hire.

Fuente may be green, but he's a much better coach than the other two.

Just as I was about to get some work done this week; Pruitt goes and punches MR in the jug.

from Rusty Mansell just now

quote:

From a very good source on this I confirmed that Jeremy Pruitt was working in a staff meeting around 11:15am.

Now If I am going to fire someone and I know ahead of time I do not let him walk in the door today. IMO

Am I saying it could not happen? No

I am just saying that as of little less than an hour ago, JP was working with his staff on daily meetings.
