Is Mullen on the hotseat?

I'm being serious by this question. If Mullen underperforms this season like a lot of people expect, also considering his failure at recruiting, will he get the boot?

Even Billy Clyde got 2 years.

No. Impossible.
But the honeymoon would be over (if its not already). I don't think many Florida fans are realistically expecting much better than 7-5. If he goes 8-4 or better, I think fan approval will actually increase but they'll expect more by 2019....
If he goes 7-5 or 6-6, I think fan approval will depend upon how he finishes in recruiting. If he overcomes the slow start to finish with a Top 15 class, I think fans will cut him some slack. But if UF finishes below #20 in recruiting, he'll start feeling the pressure for sure.

Perhaps your title could have been "Can Mullen end up on the hotseat?". When you say "is" that is present tense. The answer to your question is no. The answer to the question you are trying to ask is also no.

Although he is excellent against the teams that he is supposed to beat, he didn't beat very many ranked teams at MSU. I think UF fans are going to have a problem with that.

No. I am asking if he would be fired after his initial year if he underperforms, seeing as his lack of recruiting is going to put them further in the dumpster. What if they go 5-7?

Also, with that said....
Worse case scenario is a 5-7 (or worse) season and a recruiting class ranked outside the Top 20. Fans would not be happy.
That's unlikely but not at all out of the realm of possibility:
@ MSU
Georgia
LSU
@ Florida State
I think the Gators lose all four of these games. Missouri and South Carolina both have to come to Gainesville, but those could easily be losses.
If Florida were to lose all 6, that would leave them one loss away from a losing season. The game at Tennessee could be the difference.
For what its worth, I think Florida beats one of the 6 teams up above and finishes 7-5.

True, it’s actually all he could do. Either way, the end result will be the same.

Just wait until he loses to Orgeron at home.

Good recruiting sets you up for a new coach to come in and succeed. You would get a year extra just based on that alone due to the talent. Lack of coaching and lack of recruiting is a much bigger problem because a bare cupboard takes years to overcome. (See Ole Miss Orgeron years post Cutcliffe)

The only school I am aware of that hires coaches that are immediately on the hot seat the day they take the job is LSU. Truth.

I haven't followed Florida recruiting, but he doesn't seem to be doing a very good job this year...what's the problem?

He cant be worse than the shark rapist.

This is a silly comment.
Alabama went through 5 coaches in 7 years. (Six if you count Kines)
UT has been through 4 coaches in 9 years.
Arkansas has been through 5 coaches in 10 years.

No, but I'm one of the few who thinks UF shows much improvement this year. Not going to win the east, but I think they win 8 games.

How in the world can someone be on a hot seat before they've coached a game?
Let him go, geez.

No, but if they can make it to an outdoor bowl game, you can bet he'll be sporting some fancy jump man gloves.
