Think for just a moment about fans who are going to these games with certain medical predispositions, on top of getting older. Asthma, Heart Disease, Lung conditions, Diabetes, obesity, and pregnancy, to name just a few conditions.

Holy shite man is that your fanbase? You forgot long Covid too. And bubonic plague. Maybe they need to sit this one out and give tickets away to someone who would enjoy it.

Side note: Local EMT going to make bank that day.

While I wish we could move the games to evening kickoffs for very obvious reasons, we can't do that because attendees are in bad health. Doing that would pretty much be a license to cancel anything in the future in present day America.

Neither do I expect games to be canceled. Just pointing out a very real problem starting next week.

Listen the University of Florida got it right, so why not plan? Gatorade-type products are available everywhere as are other cooldown products on the market. And now is the right time to think about these young children and moms and dads and even grandparents who are going.

I've got tickets to two BAMA games this season, but neither looks like a death wish. I could be wrong.

Today, at least:

Athens: 7° over avg
Auburn: 6° over avg
Austin: 2° over avg
Baton Rouge: 10° over avg (record)
College Station: 7° over avg
Columbia SC: 8° over avg
Columbia MO: 6° over avg
Fayettville: 8° over avg
Gainesville: 2° over avg
Knoxville: 4° over avg
Lexington: 6° over avg
Norman: 8° over avg
Oxford: 4° over avg
Starkville: 6° over avg
Tuscaloosa: 4° over avg

It's been an objectively hot summer. No politics needed.

Correct, it's hotter in most cases in the SEC.

If a person can’t handle the heat, then don’t go! Going to a football game is optional.
Personally, we don’t go to day games in most of September because it’s too freaking hot and I hate it! We will go to night games, but not day games, I don’t care who we are playing. It’s a decision I make for comfort, just like anyone else can make if it effects their health.
I was referring to the players anyway. I wouldn’t have imagined that you would taken up the cause for people who voluntarily go out in heat if they have medical conditions that preclude them from doing so. Personal responsibility is a great thing!

I went to a Bama So. Miss game opener at Legion Field years ago. It was over 100 at the 1:00 kick and they were bringing people out of the stands on stretchers all game long.

My dad and I went to an A-Day game several years back. Unseasonably hot for late April, or whenever it was, and there wasn't enough water. People nearly passing out on the ramps trying to leave. Saw a few stretchers. I've endured afternoon kickoffs in August before, and decided unless it is a 6PM or later kickoff, I'll watch at home until about October. And I'm relatively young and in good shape. I can't imagine an older obese person trying to deal with that heat.

How many people do you know that plan on having a heat stroke and then follow through? People do things without thinking it through or bad things just happen to good people all the time. If a perfectly healthy person can get overwhelmed and die or get injured with a heatstroke, your Mamaof2 advice would seem very unsympathetic for those less perfect.

Your argument sounds silly. Over-preparing is the only thing that could possibly happen if people pay attention to some of these precautions. On the other hand, your advice sounds more like you had it coming.

I sold my Texas/Alabama tickets last week, and this was a major reason. As much as I wanted to actually go to this game, I don't like September games -- even at 6:00 p.m.

Do you know what the number one killer in the world actually is, besides time? Unforeseen occurrences.

That's the stuff you didn't see coming.

YOU brought up fans with medical issues, remember!
I was replying to your claim that people with heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, asthma and obesity are at risk during day games. So my common sense reply is simple, don’t go.
Look, Bryant Denny is an outdoor stadium, weather can always be an issue. Heat, thunderstorms, sleet can occur at games. Check the weather, if you even think you could have issues, don’t go. I sat out of a huge LSU game because of thunderstorms all day. My husband went with my son, it quit before the game, but I am afraid of lightning and didn’t want to risk it.
Again, personal responsibility!

Youth football is still practicing from 7:15 to 8:30. It’s 98 degree’s right now. No pads and no helmets mainly just a walk through practice.

Every player needs a minimum of 10 practices to play in the league. Since COVID it dropped from 15 to 10. You can only have 2 practices a week after the first week of school. Some schools still have the 15 practice minimum.

Day games in Tuscaloosa being hot as hades is not an unforeseen circumstance!
There are steps people can take to limit their chances of heat related illnesses.
Begin hydrating on Thursday. You can’t get enough fluid on Saturday to be hydrated enough for that game.
Don’t drink alcohol at least 24 hours before game and during game.
Wear loose and light colored clothing.
You could even take salt pills. My son was in MDB, they never took off their jackets except for 1 game, and would get 2 salt pills as they existed Stomp on the way to BD.
People aren’t helpless, they can take precautions.
