Why limit yourself to offensive minded coaches only? Not every defensive guy out there will be as clueless as boom when it comes to scoring points.

Because that is the type of coach that has brought NC's to the Gators. He trusts that formula and has decided that is what is best for him to keep his job.

He's a little defensive about hiring defensive coaches. I don't think he means to be offensive to offensive coaches.

He said he wanted a coach with a good track record on the offensive side of the ball.

That doesn't mean he's only looking at offensive minded coaches.

Foley already made his bad decision by letting Muschamp go. Florida will be bad for another four years.

Name a defensive minded coach that has been successful at Florida.

The ONLY defensive coach I could see him going after is Bob Stoops

Foley's decision, but IMO For a head coach hire:

I think recruiting is priority number one. ESPECIALLY AT QB AND BOTH LINES.
Player development is number 2.
X's and O's are after that.
There are Many ways to win games, but if you get good players and develop them for your preferred system you can succeed.

Well played and appreciate the proper way to look at his comments.

A defensive minded coach is more than capable of making a quality offensive hire. These SEC jobs are so much more than X and O hires. It's the totality of the job and all the extra stuff outside you have to manage as well. Then you have to manage your staff and fill it with coordinators that complement what you do best. Muschamp's temperament and the way he handled a sideline was embarrassing and if he was that way in any other facet of his program it shows.

I would disagree with that statement. At least how it applies to us.
