Florida has a genius plan going forward. Score at least one point in every game win or lose and the season is a success.

Yes, Florida will always be Big 6 because of their resources. They just need the right coach. With that said....frick Florida!

So resources are the deciding criteria in Florida's case? Interesting, because we have a school getting ready to join that has resources (and dildos) out the arse. Is tejas big 6?

Yes they will but it has nothing to do with resources, but everything to do with the big 6 group that originated out of the 6 teams that won SEC titles in the 1980s as the article posted above rightly stated.

And those are STILL the only 6 teams that have won the SEC AND NCs, 30-40 years later.

Sorry you two aren't a part of our club

Frick no. I hate that assumption. We have to earn our spot just like everybody else on that list.

It was a rhetorical question.

Last comment will be, I wonder if the headline would have read the big 7 if we could've just beaten UT in 1986.

Here, you prove the essential nature of the club. You, as Ole Miss, are only able to point to 1 freaking year out of 30 or 40 (that didn't even result in the criterium - a championship).

And yes, an other will be accepted now with just one current SEC Championship - but as mentioned, they will basically be in a probationary period. But most likely whatever other wins one, will win multiple - because of the nature of the program.

The Big 6 have multiple instances over an extended period of time. They prove not to be one hit wonders. That is just what will happen because of the nature of the programs - intangibles, tradition, and resources.

You are perfectly welcome to start your own pre 70s glory days club. But it doesn't have anything to with the Big 6.

10 year period Buford, didn't you read the article?

Florida has yet to meet this, frankly. They had one good decade, and one hiccup from 2006-2008.

But, as we learned by researching the topic, none of that matters. All that matters is what a newspaper article thought about the state of the SEC going into 1989 of how things went in the 1980s.

A probationary period in a make-believe club. Sounds about right.

If you call performance over 40 years "make-believe", well ok. Cope more.

If all 6 members were "performing" over that 40 year period I would agree with you, but they haven't all done that. It's a silly club/moniker and the only thing I'm forced to cope with is the runaway hyperbole that is the SEC.

It’d be funny to hear your version of big 6.

Haven't you heard - everything is arbitrary so you can't put labels on anything. UM and Miss St. have just as good of chance of winning the SEC than LSU or Auburn.
