And what has Gus done except soak Auburn for more money?

I mean he won a conference championship and took them to a NC. Let's not act like Gus is some scrub. He's not elite, but the dude is still a good coach.

It will be interesting to see if Dabo can maintain his hold over the ACC with Miami seemingly getting back on track. Personally I don't like Dabo. I think he's a phony.

That's over the top.

That's an understatement.

And that might be a bit of a stretch.

Dabo's win percentage for his first 6 years is almost identical to Gus' win percentage.

I'm leaving off the Arky state year because I limited my comments to P5. With that in mind, while the percentage is close (67-70), there's a decidedly different pattern.

Gus won 12 his first year, but only got back to 10 this year. Dabo won 9, 6, 10, 11, 11. There's a consistency there that Gus has yet to show. I'm not saying he won't, but until he does nobody in is right mind would say that he and Dabo are comparable.

Lots of folks don't. Lots of folks don't like Saban or Urban Meyer either. Happens win you win lots of games

I think he's a phony.

Clemson just finished their 7th straight season with 10 or more wins and made a 3rd straight trip to the playoffs. It's way past time to admit you're wrong.

You can be a phony shithead and still win games, not mutually exclusive. I think he was talking about his character more than his coaching ability.

Is this a real question? The man makes it to the CFP three years in a row, and you are asking if he is a good coach?

I don't like Dabo because he uses this religious, good guy, aww shucks, schtick when he's just another win at all costs coach. One thing I do appreciate about Saban is that he's pretty consistently an arrogant arse. I honestly feel Urban Meyer has done some growing up since he left Florida.

Dabo playing a clearly concussed Travis Etienne was it for me. frick Dabo.

Someone in yesterday's game thread was asking for evidence of what Gamecocks knew about the "real" Dabo because a Gamecock fan posted "if yall only knew him like we do". I'll just post one thing if yall are interested....

Here is Dabo, a grown man and head coach of a major football program acting like he's ranter on a message board. He said this stuff about USC after getting his arse beat by Spurrier for a third straight time.

When you watch this understand that this question to Dabs was obviously planted by Dabs and was asked by a reporter from a Clem fan site. Dabo's response is childish and a lame attempt at trying to one up Spurrier. BTW, all Spurrier said after beating Clem was "We aint Alabama, but we aint Clemson either"....a rather innocuous comment if you ask me.

Check out the video. The pertinent part starts at the 2:00 mark but because Dabs talks so much you have to get to the 5:45 mark to get to the childish stuff. As I said, the question was planted and Dabs had a prepared answer; there is simply no way Dabs has all those stats in his head unless he was prepared for the question.

What's so Dabo is that he begins by saying, "I was taught to win or lose with class", then he proceeds to insult, not the football team, but the entire University of South Carolina, its alumni, its academics, its administration, etc. because of a nothing comment from Spurrier.
Dabs goes on a childish rant

Dabo has won a national title as head coach and Malzahn has not. This is a silly question.

What he has been in the playoffs three years straight. He is a much better coach than Gus.

He has had players baptized by the nut from NewSpring at practice facilities paid for by tax dollars. Skeevy doesn't begin to describe it.

Hey Lonnie -
I did a quick Youtube search but can't find it, maybe you can.....
the video from the day Clem retired CJ Spiller's jersey. Pregame and standing at the top of the hill it's CJ and Dabo with the team behind them and on the day to honor CJ it's Dabo, not the NFL running back with 4.38 speed, running out first and making sure he's way out in front of everyone running down the hill.

Dabo Swinney is as big a fraud as Hugh Freeze and that rant proves it. I will always love Steve Spurrier, despite the way he left our program, for trolling the hell out of Dabo. This is a man who professes to be a Christian, but goes on a 3-minute tirade reserved for the lunatics on Tigernet because his team got their arse beat for the 3rd straight year by their arch-rival.

He has turned Clemson into the most hypersensitive, cult-like place in America. They baptize players, whine about perceived persecutions and preach morality to anyone that'll listen, yet that whole love thy neighbor command goes out the window when they talk about anyone associated with USC or Columbia. Yet it's Dabo, the guy who talks about family values and being all-in, who plays Watson with a torn ACL, Bryant with god knows how many injuries and now Etienne who should have been in concussion protocol.

And Spurrier's response to Dabo's rant: "If Carolina is in Chapel Hill and USC is in California, who the hell has beaten Clemson the past 3 years?"

The way Spurrier left you made me feel sorry for your fans. He shite on you and went back the UF and you can sit there and idolize him...As for the Freeze comment, you don't really have a grasp on the term "success"

Clemson fans have always been a manic, over-sensitve people...That's fair. Dabo didn't create that.we have been that way for a long time.

There was a time when it was okay for a man to speak of his faith..now it is an insult to some...sigh... As for Baptism, the only case I am aware of is when DeAndre Hokins requested to be Baptized in front of his team...and you have a problen with that?....Watson beat you with a torn ACL and you guys are still burning over that. The damage was already done and could not have hurt it more...ETN's situation I don't know. He got his bell run and returned to the game...

That was some funny shite...That is the one thing I miss about Spurrier..He and Dabo had some great banter back and forth that brought some sizzle to our rivalry...you need to lighten up a lot.

Many coaches have had amazing Qb's.

Not many coaches win the national title.

No. He isn't close. He literally just got back to the playoffs again, and doing it vs a pretty tough schedule. Alabama was the perfect match up to expose his young team.

Clemson isn't disappearing anytime soon.
