Admittedly LSU fan looking for some cover, but it seems like with his negative attitude, he's now in the same complete bust zone with JaMarcus

Didn't Russell have the largest rookie contract ever at the time he signed it? Before the scale was enforced.

... yet to be seen. I know every fan from every other program wants him to be a bust, but it's too early to tell just yet.

The Raiders yesterday officially agreed to terms with QB JaMarcus Russell, the No. 1 pick in the '07 NFL Draft, on a six-year, $61M contract that guarantees him $32M, the "richest rookie contract in NFL history," according to Nancy Gay of the S.F. CHRONICLE. If Russell reaches several performance- and appearance-based incentives, and the Raiders "improve as a team and reach certain offensive targets and victory totals," Russell could earn as much as $68M over the course of the deal. As it is written, the Raiders are paying Russell $32M guaranteed, "if all his escalators -- $3[M] of which are backloaded to 2010 -- are triggered." The Raiders "got the guarantees they wanted," as the deal has an "attractive base package because the bulk of the incentives and escalators are backloaded, giving the team three seasons of protection and breathing room." Meanwhile, Russell's agents, Ethan Lock and Eric Metz, got a "record deal and attractive cash flows for their client the first three seasons" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/12).

Jadeveon Clowney signed a 4 year, $22,272,998 contract with the Houston Texans, including a $14,518,544 signing bonus, $22,272,998 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,568,250. In 2016, Clowney will earn a base salary of $600,000 and a roster bonus of $1,844,818. Clowney has a cap hit of $6,074,454 while his dead money value is $13,161,317.[/b]

As a fan of the school that produced Trent Richardson, I support this. He's a bust.

Yeah but he had to live and play in Oakland so it's kind of a fair trade off

Not even remotely close.

You are so ignorant. Clowney was drafted after the rookie wage scale went into effect. Jamacus Russell's signing bonus was probably worth more than the entire first year of Clowney's contract.

Russell's 61 million contract included 32 million guaranteed. Clowney's entire 4 year contract is worth 22 million

Not even close.

If Clowney answers the door looking all fat and drinking liquid codeine then I will put him on a level with Jamarcus. Until then, Jamarcus wears the cone of shame.

Not sure what went down tonight, but clowney wanted to play and O'Brian didnt want him to. Looks like they could have used him though since KC ran a train on them.

I don't believe the scheme is right for him. I think if he can stick his hand in the ground on every play he will be alright.

He definitely wanted to play. Was upset that he couldn't. I don't get the hate.

He's just gotta find a way to stay healthy, when he was he played well & showed flashes.

And nowhere near JaMarcus Russell.
