This being an LSU board, it's easy to recall ours, but our last two QBs are both pretty forgettable for the rest of the country.
this.
I think Flynn is more known because he had two plays replayed allllll season (D Byrd pass and over shoulder flip to David). He also is still in the NFL.

People forget about Tee Martin all the time. They think it was Manning that won a NC at UTk, but it was really Martin.
Yep and I predicted that Tennessee would make a run that year with Manning gone so there wasn't the spotlight and pressure on them.

Who outside of the LSU nation know of Matt Mauck?

National Championship QB's are kind of like losing Vice Presidential Nominees. They fade into oblivion.

I remember Mauck but not Flynn.

Steadman Shealy in '79.
I bet most Bama fans couldn't name him. Dude threw for fewer yards in 6 SEC games that year than McElroy got against us in the first half of this season's Iron Bowl.
One thing's for certain: if we win in Glendale, our starting QB won't be forgotten.

It seems like most NC winning QB's aren't really remembered for the individual feats. I mean who is going to remember Greg McElroy 10 years ago? Josh Heupel today?

I remember Josh Heupel. He was a terrific QB. He was certainly more memorable than QBs like Krenzel, Mauck, Leak, Flynn and McElroy.

Who was the QB that won it in 04?

OSU is 3-11-1 all time vs. SEC.
7-11-1, actually.
But whatever, it sucks either way.

Whenever I watch old Craig Krenzel highlights, it amazes me how much he reminds me of McElroy. Actually Craig Krenzel was probably worse than McElroy. Man, that guy sucked. It was painful watching him at QB.
Krenzel was the man. He also does a great job today on local Nissan dealer car commercials. True story.

Sorry dude. Krenzel sucked. '02 Ohio State should have been one of the most dominant championship teams of the BCS era. Instead, they were one of the least impressive (tied for lowest avg. point differential of all BCS NCs with '06 Florida) and squeaked by a number of teams that they should have beaten handily that year.

I honestly hate the fact that everyone gets caught up in the Tebow hype. Tebow threw a few jump passes his freshman year and was the short yardage fullback. Chris Leak captained that team to the MNC game. I would say he is one of the most overshadowed players ever to play at UF.
