Was 2008 OM all Houston Nutt.

Have to give Ed Orgeron credit for that team since he recruited them.
OM jumped the gun too quick.

Is arky ranked in the top 10? Where is his recruiting class ranked? Not that these are the only criteria but it helps

It’s too early to tell but last season was historically bad for us. Sure our talent was down but we had superior talent to 4 of the teams we played and we only won 2 games.

Our recruiting was better than our typical class but a coaches first full class usually is.

Hmmmm, tough question.

I'll definitely have to give Coach O the advantage in recruiting. He recruited well at Ole Miss, and even though it's not exactly hard to recruit well at LSU, he's recruited well there.

But his results haven't really been at that same level. He under performed at Ole Miss, he's under performed at LSU.

Bookmark this thread and come back this coming Thanksgiving, and I'm betting the majority of LSU fans will be wanting a change.

On the other hand, not much to really say about Chad Morris. Has potential? Doesn't recruit better so far, but did improve SMU from one of the worse teams to a bowl eligible and had them going in the right direction.

I want to pick Coach O. I think he leads simply because he has more experience and at least recruits well. But I think this is his last year, so it's not a very strong pick and I could easily see Morris being better before it's said and done.

Or not. Orgeron gets some credit for recruiting those studs they had in 08 and 09 like Zook did for us when Urban first took over but otherwise Ole Miss was even worse in year 3 than year 1.
Meanwhile, Nutt took Arkansas to the SECCG twice and had back-to-back top 15 seasons for Ole Miss without cheating.

How long did it take Freeze to turn around Ole Miss?

Hugh went 7-6 in year 1. Ole Miss was 2-10 the year prior.

Ed should get credit for recruiting some studs to Ole Miss but he was a garbage head coach and he didn’t have a lot of respect from the team. Not sure what he’s done at LSU yet. This year and next year will tell a better tale.

Hard to judge. LSU has a talent gap right now which could mask EO's ability a bit.

Of all of LSU’s seniors and early entry juniors LSU only had 3 players drafted. We don’t have Alabama’s roster... yet

Things must have changed.

The players at USC wanted to keep him
Same with LSU

Orgeron has always been a coach players respect and want to play for

A lot of people at USC wish they kept him

Every post from him convinces me more and more he's had a frontal lobotomy. That's the only explanation I have.

He doesn't have a Cajun accent.

It's just a very deep and coarse Southern USA accent...….

You do realize that Chandler is going into his senior year at Highland Park after a state championship right? Hes not at the UofA, he does however have offers from Arkansas, Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn and 8 others.

He doesn't have an offer from AU. Haynes King is the only QB that could committ to AU right now, no questions asked. I'm not knocking the kid, I've never even seen his film. I saw the AU offensive recruiting board on Tuesday at the athlectic complex. He wasn't listed in the top five for the QB position.

No. Freeze came in w/ Nutt recruits that were trash. All O had to do was to let Freeze run a spread option w/ Brent Schaeffer. We did that one game and were moving the ball against Bama or LSU and Dan Werner started crying and O wanted to run the USC offense so we went back to sucking and losing. Not many SEC coaches stunk up the place like O did in Oxford. He's a pretty good recruiter but not anything above a position coach.

The offers from Auburn and Clemson are out of respect.

For Arkansas to not go after Haynes King is a frickin joke.
Chandler Morris is 1/2 the QB.
Nepotism at its finest.
