It's just now getting good. A city in New Jersey just gave out a curfew.

When? What virus? The last time was H1N1 but we only had like 10 cases in the US

CDC doesn’t agree

“From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.”

On Dec 31 2009 I got the flu...I was 37 at the time, and I could barely stand up for 3 or 4 days and took about 2 weeks to get over. After they shoved that god forsaken qtip up my nose they just said I had 'the flu', but did not specifiy what kind, so I wonder if I had the H1N1.

I still think most of this is overkill, but hopefully some good common sense things will come out of this, and I would imagine it will become a fairly large amount of interest in the presidential race.

This pandemic is going to force everyone out of their comfort zones. It’s a blessing in disguise

All this for a virus that gives people cold like symptoms. Lol

Yes, I know it kills some, but only the elderly. It's unfortunate, but the elderly are faced with such things regardless of COVID19. The Coronavirus is not new, and shutting down the world for this is easily the most ridiculous thing I've ever experienced.

Showing that ignorance and misinformation isn’t just coming from the left.

1. This mutation is new. Simple fact and to date, there are some indications it’s more severe than previous versions. Time will tell the true story.

2. It does kill more than just those who are elderly. Mortality rates are much higher for elderly and those with other risk factors, but to say “only the elderly” is false.

Is it as bad as the new media and some on this board are making out in my opinion, but saying it’s nothing new and only kills the elderly is ridiculous.

1. It's STILL Coronavirus.

2. YES! It does only kill the elderly.

3. I'm not being insensitive to the elderly either. It sucks. However, if we shut down the world for diseases that only kill the elderly we'd have shut down earth a long time ago.

A coronavirus is only a classification of viruses. They aren't all the same.

This is straight up not true. You are either lying or an idiot. Pick one.

This is a disease that is spreading much more quickly than others. That's the main problem.

Hints the number, huh?

"Mainly" is a better word. Do some research. It's easy so find this virus is not killing the young or healthy.

It's spreading cold like symptoms at a rapid rate. Terrifying.

This is from the CDC's website on H1N1...

quote:

From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

H1N1

Why no mass hysteria? Why no shutdown of Earth? Why no world-wide panic? Why?

In the course of one year 60 million Americans were infected. Nearly 300,000 hospitalized, and over 12,000 Americans DEAD.

This is a nothing burger, and it's been turned into a weapon.

Honestly the biggest thing for me personally is having to shop around for water, TP and other basic goods.

I don't care for basketball or baseball. I sometimes might take in an Alabama basketball game, but never any other team.

I only buy live TV during football season and as soon as LSU beat the shite out of Clemson I canceled my Hulu Live subscription. Don't even give a shite about the NFL. Won't be back on until August.

Hopefully this shite doesn't get drawn out so far it affects football season. Or at least people aren't being super weird about it by then.

You didn't use the term "mainly". You used only, which is quite different. This thing has the potential and unfortunately likely will kill younger Americans with pre-existing medical conditions - especially those that affect the immune system. You were wrong. Don't try to change the goalpoast and weasel your way out.

Once again, you are either lying or a moron. You should go ahead and pick one.

My daughter was nine in 2009 and caught H1N1 at gulf shores. Her temps were 105 and the doctors were useless. I accidentally overdosed her on the fever reducing meds and the doctors credited that with potentially saving her. We were just relieved she improved. Alabama was awash in the flu then and nothing was shut down.

Wow. That link was a waste of my time.

You pretty much ignored the content of my last post.

This is a nothing burger, and H1N1 was worse. Keep drinking the cup of hysteria if you like. Me? I'm going to chill and watch the world get played like a fiddle. It's sad.

Correct, and H1N1 was a much worse illness for the majority who caught it.

I'm no idiot, pal. I'm also not an Einstein, but I am smart enough to look at the information that's starring us all in the face and make an intelligent decision for MYSELF. I suggest you do the same.

I believe the hysteria and panic is overblown. But the ignorance in the “I ain’t skeered” crowd is just as dangerous.
