He’s supposed to be throwing at our Pro Day

I think both will have average careers at best. Tua due to injuries and size and JB due to playing on a bad team and arm strength.

Tua will be a better prospect if he can learn to throw the intermediate and deep balls accurately as Joe Borrow does, learns to make lightning-quick decisions as Joe Burrow does, and also learns to throw the ball accurately under intense pressure and on the run the way Joe Burrow throws.

Tua checks every box out there, except for health

Arm strength with respect to most really good QB coaches ranks at the bottom of the heap as far as priorities are concerned. Indeed, if you can't throw the ball on time, throw the ball accurately, and throw the ball with touch, then arm strength is a useless metric.
Look at Drew Brees, he no longer has nearly the same arm strength he had as a young NFL QB, nevertheless, he still completes over 70 percent passes.
It's only low-information dumb people who believe arm strength is a really important metric and that's cause they don't know crap about football.

You’re in for a huge surprise. Tua has more empty boxes than checked boxes. He makes one throw at different levels really well, other than that he’s below average everywhere for a top QB prospect.

Outs are probably the most effective route in the Pro Game. You have to have the arm strength to make the deep outs effective. In CF, if you can throw the slant or the intermediate middle pass you will be successful. DB/FS in the Pro game make that pass less desirable.

I wouldn’t touch Tua in the first round. NFL GM’s are also not too fond of unusual major injuries. If he sinks to round 3 I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Hell yeah I'm buying.
But I'm a homer. I just can't help it.
Frick Burrow

I always thought Tua threw the long ball better. His health has to be a big consideration. No way is he going to be able to run in the NFL and stay health.
I would have to take Burrow 1st and its not close.

Two of those surgeries on the ankle - the tightrope procedure - are quickly becoming routine now. Not much different then an MCL sprain. Jury is out on his hip but his ankles are fine.
Only one NFL player has had the tightrope surgery.....
I wouldn’t call that routine.
NFL players would rather sit out 6-8 weeks rather than be cut on at this point.
That could change.
It hasn’t yet and certainly is not routine.

Tua will be taken in the first round, even if it is just a team taking a flier on him

I mean, he could be. I think burrow will be better, but it’s not like there’s no argument for tua.

Burrow is screwed - he’s going to a poser program with no hope of salvation. Tua will most likely go to a much better situation

Also pretty hard to be routine when at the point Tua had the surgery in 2018 it was only available to University of Alabama athletes. Routine requires a hell of a lot of surgeries. More than can be done in a year.
The deep out isn't all about arm strength. In fact it's considerably more about timing. Throw it on time and accurately, it's hard to stop. Big arm strength just allows mistakes to be covered easier. Burrows are is every bit as good as Brady's and Brees. Again they haven't had much trouble

I agree but
First round does not equal top 5 pick.

Tua will be top 5 at worst. Looks like he'll be drafted at 3.
