If LSU can get a good 8-9 years with Les Miles after Saban left, I feel pretty good about our program for at least 10 more years.

Is Alabama's reign of dominance coming to an end?
I'll list 3 teams resumes from this past season and you be the judge on who is in decline. I'll leave the names of the teams off so that there will be no bias.
Team A: Went 8-5 (4-4). Lost to both of their rivals. Lost their bowl game to Wisoncin. 2 losses were to teams that were beat 59-0 by elite programs.
Team B: Also 8-5 (4-4). Lost to their "rival". Shut out by a great Arkansas team. Lost to Notre Dame in their bowl. Best part of coaching staff said "frick it" and walked out. Hired a glorified admin assistant as DC.
Team C: 12-2 (8-1). Blew out 2 time East Champions, Mizzou, for SEC championship. Beat rivals and LSU during regular season. Played the eventual national champs down to the wire in the first ever College Football Playoff. Got rid of dead weight in coaching staff. Has Nick fricking Saban as head coach.
Team C looks to have had a horrible year but I'm going to go with Team A and B.

The years of winning 3 championships in a short window of time are over. A combination of schools uprisings and fall-offs and other things all facilitated this from happening, and that will not reproduce itself again. However, Bama could remain strong enough to win a championship every 3 years or so, and that would still be amazing. More likely, Saban is getting weary from the grind, and others are catching up or phasing to the party, so it will more likely be once every 4-6 years.

Team C must have played some real cupcake competition in OOC play.
moral victories do not have a stat column.

Not anymore cupcake than what they played in conference.

Did they just not win the SEC championship? Did they just not make the first ever playoffs? I'm confused.

Bama would have beaten Ohio St if they had their guardian angel Tom fricking Ritter on patrol

didn't know Alabama's reputation under Saban came from 3rd-4th place finishes. Thanks for clearing that up for us!
3rd place nationally. LSU can't even get 3rd place in their division.

No, if Lane would have fed the rock to Henry, game over!

Alabama was/is the best program in the nation. The gap between Alabama and the opposition wasn't as huge as some would like to think it is. Other teams have good players, coaches, and resources so of course Alabama could be beaten. If the ball bounces a few different ways, everything could be different.
But just like things are never as good as they seem, they are never as bad as they seem either. Alabama just won the SEC, finished the regular season #1, and lost in a close game to the eventual national champions. We also have another top recruiting class on the way. I'd hardly say Alabama's done competing for championships.

You meant national reign? Maybe. The SEC reign is still going. Here is an interesting stat regarding SEC games. In the last 7 years this is the wins/losses by 17 or more points in SEC games for the following schools:
Bama 34 to 0
LSU 12 to 6
AU 10 to 14
Bama 34 to 0
LSU 12 to 6
AU 10 to 14
