But other than that, good luck to the kid in all ways but championships.
Aranda: "Smart Aggression"

I listened to his presser, but his answer to the characteristic of his style at the beginning was the thesis for the rest of his comments. Don't think I've ever been more excited about a hire of any kind in any sport I have ever followed.

or, just find out who they are recruiting for QB, and go after them.
Miles: A one man cabal
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/29/15 at 12:40 pm
Alleva is a liar, and any reasonably perceptive/intelligent person knows as much.
He is as weak as they come. He let the ESPN elite influence him. He was unable to stand up to King Alexander, who in no way was willing to take the wrath of the media criticism for "firing the winningest coach in LSU history".
All along, Miles has had no accountability. He collects his 4-5 million, and calls all the shots.
Alleva is as weak as they come. Alleva is as political as they come. Alleva has no margin for error in his AD career based on his botching of the Duke LaCrosse situation.
I want him gone bad. But, King Alexander won't have the balls to get rid of him, anymore than Alleva to get rid of Miles.
I'll support Miles because I love LSU football, and because he is a very decent man. However, he is a poor coach who is a superb recruiter, and we all know that LSU will allow the one-man cabal to rule the LSU brand and campus, as long as he wins 8 or more games each year. The 2007 season is his forever get out of jail card.
Miles is the one man cabal.
Deal with it.

re: Miles flirted w/ Mich (2x) + Arky, I'm fine with how this is going

good point. He did not leave, but leveraged significantly by these situations. He got a raise he did not earn, leveraging continuously off of the 2007 Tigers.
re: Utterly laughable that Jimbo would go to LSU

This is an opportunity to educate, pro-actively. We need to make it clear that the LSU Athletic Department has a net positive effect on the LSU academic institution. Make it clear that the TAF booster, independent of LSU the institution, are paying the 22 Million.
Dear Lord, you guys almost seem like Democrat operatives. You cannot process logically without the temptation to tell a deception narrative.
What is laughable is to think that you cannot disassociate LSU's academic money issues from the LSU football boosters independent pocket books.
Sad, and even more laughable to outline what you are expressing.

re: Miles in the USC mix?

Might actually work. He needs a power program where recruiting is 99% of the game. USC is such program. Any other place for Miles, and he is going to fail miserably.
It just smells like Alleva is either mastering this or botching it
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/24/15 at 5:11 am
He is not a dumb man. He must have this next guy nailed. He has had a long time to anticipate this move. Years of time to be working this behind the scene.
At first I was worried. The more i contemplate this, the more I think Alleva is going to be viewed as the savior when this all unfolds. Miles is gone. Alleva wants to be the architect of the biggest department in the Athletic Dept. He knows this will be EVERYTHING in his legacy at LSU. A chance to redeem his personal resume from the Duke situation.
I'm expecting a Gruden type of home run. Someone who will be so impressive that no one (other than the pumpers who love Miles no matter what) will question.
I'm getting excited.
Geaux Alleva. THIS IS YOUR LEGACY MOMENT!

SVP likes Miles. Heck, as a person, who wouldn't. He's a very decent man. However, we don't want just a decent man who can recruit anymore, we want a decent man who can recruit and who can speak normally and who can coach greatly.

I pay ~ 3k each year for 2 tickets and one parking pass. I went alone to the game, and could not get anywhere near the money I paid for the second ticket i tried to sell. I can't sell the "shite games" for even the face value. I think I should expect more of the man making 5 million/year.

Out of emotional gas
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/16/15 at 9:09 pm
Miles is exhausting. Its not about winning or losing, it is about how his teams "show up", or more recently "do not show up". Many wonder why the stadium empties early. I suspect most of these people live close by, or have plans to stay for post game tailgating. Most have long drives home. I'm one of them. I was so pissed that I left in the 4th quarter. I was on I-10 super fast and on my way home from that crap of a game. Miles is so predictable and hard-headed and the other SEC coaches are totally on to him. He will not change. He simply is incapable of changing. Saban has modified. Miles still thinks his offensive line is capable of overcoming anything the opponent provides. If "his plan', if you can call it that, does not work, he automatically points to the team for not executing the plan. He does not doubt that the plan is wrong, he calls out his team directly or indirectly for not being "tough" and for not executing the plan. Sure, in this case he claims it is his fault. But admitting that offers no hope. Did he not put his best into motivating the team to execute his plan? What the hell does he mean? His plans are poor. His special teams coach is poor. His great running back cannot execute because his plan is poor. He drains emotional gas out of the fan base to such an extent that it is not fun attending the games "too often". Where is the hope? There is none. We are an underachieving team again this year. Two years in a row we lose to freaking Ar-kansas, and 5 times in a row to the trailer trash nation. Miles needs to be held accountable, but there is no one that can do so. Alleva lost all of his willingness to do controversial things in the Duke LaCrosse mis-management. Miles has surrounding himself with yes men. It is sad. Sunshine pumpers can STTDB

I'm a Les fan. I generally support him when he's bashed on here. I think he's the most successful coach LSU has ever had. Obviously, Saban is overall a more successful coach but he didn't enjoy the same success at LSU. The point is, despite my respect and appreciation for the man, I've come to realize that he will never change. Just couldn't believe it when they asked him if he'd consider a strategy change and he was like "well we ALMOST won like 2 or 3 times so no." That shite is beyond frustrating. Lesser power 5 teams have beaten better Bama teams than this one over the past five years.
Thanks for this. Very well put.

With the best Offensive line we have had in a while. With the best running back we have had in a while.
Miles failed against Bama. For the 5th consecutive time.
Miles is the only man on the planet that seems to fail to recognize that what works against most teams, will not work against Bama.
All we can do is hope that even his level of delusion and hard-headedness will be shed.
It should be obvious, even to Miles, that the formula is broke.
The game plan (did we have one?) and philosophy and play calling MUST change.
We can only hope he will join the 5th grade girls who clearly see this now.
