Frankly many UGA fans are being unrealistic. Georgia will be way down as opposed to last year.

We lose 33 seniors including every leader and our best players of all time minus Herschel. Huge question marks at most positions and a deceptively tough schedule.

Could we win the east? Sure. Will we? Doubtful. I expect us to lose or struggle at USC, at Mizz, at LSU, vs. Auburn. Then throw in our history of losing at least one game we shouldn't every year and 8-4 starts looking likely.

Kirby Smart has yet to prove anything. South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee are all improving fast and have proven winners in charge.

I expect us to finish second or third in the east behind USC and/or Florida. Reload for an east challenge in 2019.

Finally. Someone who gets it.

Hilarious, the sky is falling, all our competition got an extra year for all their seniors that we apparently did not get...

Richt is gone, most of us pointed to 2018 when Smart was hired. Richt is coaching the cocanes. Kirb's is talking g no prisoners.

Richt is gone, but that isn't what's important.

Richt's PLAYERS are gone. That's who was leading us to the rose bowl last year.

Let me ask it this way...what happened to LSU with Les Miles after Saban's players were gone?

Hint: No Mas Natty

First, I'm largely in agreement that it's far to question the experience of the defense overall... but with that said...

quote:

-4 year starting safety being replaced by a TSo that received limited PT last year

But if you put that in context, you have a Safety that started essentially the entire season in Reed who was an unknown going into last year as a transfer.

quote:

-2 senior OLBs being replaced by 1 guy with a lot of PT and one with very limited mopup duty

Agreed... You definitely lose experience... *but* one of them is a guy that was constantly questioned going into last year in terms of can he put together production that equals the expectations that he had (Zo), and the other who had been a better than serviceable OLB, but not a huge producer. Deandre Walker was arguably the most disruptive pass rusher of the 3, but perhaps less versatile.

quote:

-Roquan being replaced by a TSo with limited PT

No question here. Single biggest loss IMO, as he was the glue that made a lot of things work. The question isn't can someone fill his shoes, but rather can they get 2 guys who can work together as a unit to provide enough production to not be a liability. Can Natrez keep his head on straight?

quote:

-Sr CB being replaced by a So with zero game reps at the position

Again, Dre Baker was not considered our best CB going into last season, he was largely unproven and sort of developed the reputation through the year. Functionally it's not that the Sophomore is replacing the SR, it's that Dre Baker is sliding into that more experienced role and now a less proven individual will inherit his former level of experience.

We think a lot about the piece that's changing sometimes without accounting for the growth of the personnel that didn't change.

I'm more concerned with the DL experience lost with John John Atkins than I am several of the other positions.

The 2018 UGA team will be better than the 2017 team was predicted to be..

This is correct because 8-4 is better than 7-5

I came in here just to read how UGA lost a lot but will be just as good and how young talent is equivalent to Seniors.

As with every other post of yours in this thread you are wrong on what the 2017 UGA team was predicted to be..

They were picked to be a top 20 team..this team will be a top 10-15 team, but probably not top 2. And one might ask themselves how such a thing happens..maybe it’s coaching? I don’t recall every here saying all those seniors we had would wreck shite last year. I do remember hearing how they weren’t shite..

Almost had me questioning your sanity until this line...

Unless I'm totally misreading something, you're missing out on some dripping sarcasm from NC.

Yes. Please give quotes.

Any fan who believes that is delusional. There ain't no Richt seniors walking through that door.

Jake Bentley -> Deebo Samuels will quickly erase any delusions of grandeur amongst our younger fans.

If we can get to 9 wins after the bowl this year, that will give us a chance to piece together a decent class, though nothing like last year, and try to contend in 19 and/or 20.

Just hard to replace 30+ starters. Doesn't matter who you are.

Dom was a fine safety but hardly irreplaceable and was even a liability at times last year. And Lecounte played a lot more Han just mop up duty; he was in on a lot of meaningful snaps in the SECCG and Rose Bowl in particular if you rewatch the film

quote:

-2 senior OLBs being replaced by 1 guy with a lot of PT and one with very limited mopup duty

Deandre Walker goes without comment but Walter Grant has very limited mop up duty? Dude was all over the place against Notre Dame and Miss St; he played a ton of snaps at OLB last year. OLB and DL are two positions in particular where we had a ton of rotation last year.

quote:

Sr CB being replaced by a So with zero game reps at the position

Or he could be replaced by a Jr with plenty of game reps or the highest rated freshman CB we have had in 10 years.

NCDawg52 is an alter for sure if he believes anything that he is spewing.

We lost Roquan but have replaced with 5 stars and 2 returning players.

11-1 OR 12-0 is realistic. This team will not be playing around this year. bank on it.
