Is 2018 UGA supposed to be as good, better, or worse than 2017?

Aside from seeing East standings projections, I don't know much about UGA. I know they return Fromm, and lost Roquan, Chubb, (and Sony?)

Who will be the starting RB? Fromm looked really good at times last year, I expect a solid year from him. Who will be his go-to receivers? Who will be the leaders of the defense?

Talent wise they are probably at least as good but they will be a little short on experience compared to last year. I think the X factor for how well they do is Justin Fields, if he comes out good as advertised they have a good chance of returning to the playoffs.

Nothing against Fromm, Fields could just bring an extra element to the offense

Swift will be a stud, Fromm will be improved and they also had a real good freshman WR last year. They have athletes like Hardeman and stud RBs. does anyone have any clue what happened to Isaac nauta? excuse for my ignorance

so are you saying Fields will take over the starting job at some point? I haven't followed the qb situation at all. Fromm struggled with certain throws, but he threw that sideline out route throw as well as anyone I've seen

I'm not sure he will but I think their chances are better if he does with his duel threat potential

Lose experience, the roster is more talented as a whole than last year's. Team needs time to gel, getting past SCU and LSU would be huge.

Swift, Holyfield, Zamir White(1 overall HS RB), James cook(Number 4 overall HS RB), we will be ok at RB.

Wr may be the best group we have had, more so if DRob gets waiver. Set at Oline.

Defense is the least of my concern as that is what Kirby does and they all have another year in his system and fundamentals camp.

Surviving early season road games will set the tone for another playoff run.

On phone so can't type much but answer is worse. Not bad mind you, just a step back especially due to defensive losses. Should still win the east but thats as far as I'd feel comfortable predicting. I think '19 and onward we will be hell on wheels though

Kirby had a quote last year that was something like "When Nauta brings the same intensity on the practice field as he does in games, he will have a bigger role"

Probably not as good. We lost a ton (Chubb, Michel, Wims, Roquan, Lorenzo carter, Bellamy)

Still have a lot of talented guys that got a ton of playing time last year, though. We expect the defense to take a step back and the offense to take a step forward.

We should win the East, but fall short of the SECC. South Carolina always plays us tough at SC and early....it'll take us awhile to get settled in the young guys to develop, but hopefully by the end of the year we will be doing well.

Both USC and LSU concern us.

ETA
Obviously Auburn does too....I just didn't think it necessary to name them.

UGA is STACKED!!! IMO, they're as talented as Bama and if they are not AT LEAST in the SEC championship game then they should be Extremely disappointed in themselves.

Nauta played at IMG in Tampa, and Eason at a Prep school outside Seattle.

QB, OL, TE will be better on offense

RB and WR will likely be as talented if not more so as a unit but question marks due to experienced players leaving (Nick and Sony at RB, Wims at WR). Swift will be the featured guy at RB and if we can get Demetris Robertson eligible for this season we will be nasty throwing the ball.

DL and OLB will be likely as good as last year, DB spots should be better with Baker and Reed returning. Even though we lose Davis at Corner and Sanders at FS, talent wise we should get an upgrade at both spots. Question is how fast that talent takes hold.

ILB is where we will have a drop off of for no other reason than you just can’t replace Roquan Smith that easy. Thy being said, Monty Rice and Natrez Patrick should still be a stout starting 2 at the positions.

I think defense is more worrying than offense.

We've been subpar in the secondary for awhile with little experience.

Also, lots of changing pieces in the front 7. They'll be good, but how good?

WR situation worries me a bit.

I strongly doubt Justin fields becomes a starter barring no injury to Fromm. Justin Fields may be better eventually and I'm sure they'll have some neat packages for him but he doesn't need to be put front and center yet.

Depends on things like injuries, bounces, and refs. We have some ready replacements for a few guys we lost, upgrade in talent with some others, and we return 13 starters.

We were three points away, in OT, from winning a National Championship.

If that's the standard, I think we're expected to be worse than last year. Thankfully we have a relatively favorable schedule with the East being as weak as ever. If we can make it through October 14th unscathed (we'll have played @ SC, @ Mizz, and @ LSU to that point) things will look really good for a chance to go to the playoff on December 1st.

I think Alabama will still be the heavy favorite, but if you tell me that Georgia basically has a quarterfinal appearance, I'll take it.

RB should be solid. Swift looked great last year, but it will be interesting to see how he performs as the guy getting the ball 20 times a game vs. 5-10. Hopefully we can rest Zamir White (#1 RB from last year) for the first few games as he's coming off a torn ACL. Add one other high 4*, and two guys who have given us solid production in the past and we're as deep as ever at RB. That's one position I'm not worried about.

I'm slightly worried about RT (starting a Redshirt Fr., but he was a 5* at least). WR should be good. Lose our top from last year, but we return 6 out of our top 7 pass catchers.

Defensively, DL should be ok. Lose one starter and another valuable player; pick up a Grad Transfer who started at ND.

LB is definitely the biggest concern, where we only return one starter. But IMO, we return our top pass rusher, and then have a ton of talent coming in.

Have arguably the best DB in the conference on one side. Other side will be interesting, but I like Mark Webb to edge out incoming 5* Tyson Campbell. Star position was great last year; he'll be back. One safety was a 5* who got decent playing time as a Freshman. The other's really the only position I don't know who will start.

ST we've got Hot Rod, Mecole returning kicks, and the #1 P coming in, so hopefully that should be as solid as ever.

UGA will be really good and will win the East, but they won’t be as good at last year’s team. Both Bama and UGA were on a different level from everyone else last year; just amazing.

TE's usually have the least amount of catches of the receiving corps, and we didn't throw the ball a whole lot last year, so he didn't get alot of touches. He's a hell of a weapon to have on the field though, and the less we use him, the more of a secret weapon he is when we do use him.
