as far as i know.. players can interact with agents, they simply cannot receive anything for free

Even if NO money was paid, I believe he is on record as saying Cecil Newton was shopping around. That makes his dad an agent and makes Cam's amateur status go bye-bye.
ESPN said last night that wasnt true.
His father cannot be considered an agent under no circumstances.

Which is NOT a violation.
Then Rogers says he was NOT involved with anything concerning AU. Good for AU since he is being investigated by the FBI.
Now, as we sit, there is still ZERO evidence against AU. Everything so far is about MSU. Yes we got Cam. Yes there has to actually be evidence of a payment for us to be in trouble. We will see if there actually is any evidence eventually.
This is true.
ETA - It does not portray Cam or his dad in a good light though. Props to Kenny Rogers though for actually putting his name and story on record though.

The entire Reggie Bush fiasco was based on hearsay. . .and look what happened there.
Hardly. The agent Bush spurned had receipts and tape recordings for all the crap.

Why not?

If Dad and/or Cam and/or agent were soliciting money for Cam, Cam is ineligible from NCAA play.
Not according to Joe Schad...asking for money is not against teh NCAA rules.
That's my understanding as well
Now if it was a coach attempting to find money for a player I think that would be a pretty severe penalty... but I bet kids ask if they could get something extra more than 10 times a year

Go look at the lesser known schools who had players drafted in the first round the last few years
GO look at auburns offensive line. Tell me if you're a parent of a kid who is "one and done" as should be speculated, you tell me you wouldn't want your kid going to auburn over MSU
Look as delusional as we auburn fans have been the past week i want everyoen to read some of the MSU post in this thread. I guess dancing bannans is the first step of greiving...ours was denial.

The NCAA is not a court governed by the laws of the U.S. or a state.
They are a private entity looking out for their own good, their own image.
They don't NEED anything as you put it. They CAN and will do what they want.

We will get away with it!
Consistent with what was said from the beginning, that MSU was offered a discount because of Mullen...so what exactly is your point?

Sorry to ruin all of your days, but asking for 1 million dollars and no money exchange hands will not make Cam newton ineligible....LOL
Do you realize how little their actual evidence was against Bush?

The NCAA defines an agent as “any individual who markets or promotes a student-athlete.”
This would include highschool coaches fwiw. Thus, agent interaction is not disallowed. You just cannot accept any impermissible benefits.

AU is toast.
AU is to bad luck in football what Les Miles is to good luck in football.
This might be the second time in a decade Auburn goes undefeated and still no NC game.....

I simply cannot believe some of you Auburn fans continuing to have your head in the sand.
I understand supporting your school, but guys, if you can't see by now that the Newtons are shady, you're absolutely oblivious to everything.
The Newtons SOLICITED MONEY for the services of Cam. This is AS BAD AS IT GETS in college football.

Would testimony that the Newtons were soliciting funds make Cam just as ineligible?

MSU reported this in JAN.! and the SEC didn't do anything about it until July.
