Why do you think the pay for the women's coach would piss them off and not the huge amounts of pay received by the football and men's basketball coaches? Do Bama's football players resent Saban's $9 million salary and commercial income?

Because these coaches are paying for themselves and their programs.

Women's athletics produces nothing and tales money from what they produce.

No it wont. How much are tickets?

I'm guessing about 10 bucks a game. $10 x 8000 more fans per game x ~20 home games per season is an additional $1.6 million in revenue on ticket sales alone. Then add merchandise sold at games, concessions, etc, it puts a pretty big dent in the deficit they've currently been showing every year. They've already received $300k in donations since she was hired. You don't think winning championships would produce a lot more revenue than they're making now?

I'm sorry, but you're really reaching on this PR angle. She'll be making about the same as Geno Auriemma. Are they paying him that much just for PR? UCONN had a net deficit of ~$3.5MM while paying him that salary (so less than LSU's current yearly deficit). They play in an arena that holds about 3k fewer fans than the PMAC. Is it more expensive to run a program in Connecticut, or are you just unable to understand simple financial figures?

I mean you're presupposing that LSU will run the same exact deficit each year they're currently running with women's basketball and just add her salary on top of it even if they're winning championships. Are you that dumb?

Your women's basketball program will be the biggest money loser BY FAR of any LSU sports program even if she wins championships.

Nah, we've sold something like 3k season tickets in 2 days since her hiring. It may not be a money maker but it won't be a massive money pit like some are suggesting I don't think.

And they go for a whopping.

Wait for it

$100 each and $50 for general admission for an ENTIRE season.

What are you, some kind of hemanwomanhater or something?

I don't disagree with any of this other than title IX people would be outraged with your comments. Which would be fine by me. Also LSU already has the wimmin folk all up in a tizzy right now, so best not to poke that hornets nest right now.

the thing you're blatantly ignoring is her fundraising power. She'll bring in millions for the school. She already got a $250,000 donation and she's been here for less than a week.

Georgia baseball runs a deficit of $2 millio each year and they're paying their head coach north of $1 million/season. Florida baseball runs a deficit of $3.5 million/year and pay Kevin O'Sullivan $1.4 million/year and just built a new stadium for $50 million. And here you are triggered about how much LSu is paying their women's basketball coach

Well, you're poor because you pay your coaches too much for what you get. Pretty straightforward. You hired and fired two football coaches last year and had to pay them millions to go away.

If Mulkey can fill the arena then women's bball will pay for itself for the first time since Pokey.

No it won't.

She won't even come close to covering her salary.

$100 (season tix) X 13,250 (being generous here you won't get half that much to go but whatever) X 15 home games (usually 30 game schedule) comes to $1.9 million plus

You lost close to $4 million prior to her and you just added around $2 million to that number (deducting current coaches salary on 500k assumption)

Your math is terrible

If you offset the previous coach's salary of $900k with her $2.5MM salary, that's an increase of of $1.6MM/year in pay for their HC. Now add the $1.9MM in ticket sales and tell me what number you get. And ticket sales aren't the only additional revenue the program would generate if she wins like she has been, but since you don't apopear to be able to deal will even basic numbers I don't want to confuse you too much

Like I said, it will be around a net nuetral situation financially if Mulkey wins and starts selling out or coming close to it. You've already ignored it once, but she will be making about what Geno Auriemma makes at UCONN. They have a stadium that seats 3000 fewer people and run a net deficit of $3.5MM/year. That is $750k less per year than what LSU was running each year while paying Nicki Fargas $900k/year.

I do wonder why you even care?
