on full scholarship per year. Give or take.

Amazing what you'll pay for a little PR.

I'd be pretty fricking pissed if I played FB or men's BB at LSU.

Hell if they only paid those guys it would come out to about 40k per year.

I don't know. Beating Georgia most of the time isn't too bad.

We don't have to, the children's hospital already pays the players, moron!

I'd be a helluva lot more pissed if I saw all the revenue they brought in flushed down the toilet for PR purposes.

I like your idea. Y’all go first, and let us know how it works out.

I'm glad to see you've finally accepted reality instead of constantly deflecting. Now fix your racism and you'll really be on the right track.

Imagine spending hundreds of millions of dollars on football over a forty-year span, and not winning a national title.

Talk about flushing money down the toilet.

I’m sure UGA fans are pissed.

Wow I underestimated the cost by a wide margin.

So what do we pay our coaching staff? 1 millionish?

So you guys are gonna go losing close to what? 5 million?

I will correct.

Ah yes, hiring a top 3 coach in the sport is for PR purposes. You got us all figured out

If we do away with women's sports, what am I supposed to do on the night of the WNBA draft?

I mean, I've never watched it before, or even a WNBA game for that matter, but I'd like to keep my options open.

Nick Saban is an investment that paid off and so was Ed O.

Each made 10's of millions for the school.

Your women's basketball program will be the biggest money loser BY FAR of any LSU sports program even if she wins championships.

What other purpose is there beyond PR?

Meh, if she's sucessful, her salary would likely become a net nuetral situation financially with what they've been losing each year in revenue by being terrible. The LSU women's team averaged just a hair over 2k fans per game the last non COVID-affected season in 2018-2019 (not even close to the top 50 in womens basketball). If she can even get that number up to 10k/game (the PMAC holds ~13k), the ~$4.2MM deficit the women's team has been producing would go down signficiantly. Regardless, with SEC schools playing with monopoly money at this point with these new TV deals, I'm over caring how much coaches are making. All salaries, top to bottom, regardless of sport, have gotten out of hand.

You think this hire was made for PR purposes? So LSU fires a coach who couldn't win and replaced her with one of the best current coach in the women's game just for PR? That seems a bit short-sighted on yoyur part, but whatever

And FTR, I couldn't care less about women's basketball, but this post is a bad take regardless. It's not like schools take money they don't spend on coaching salaries and just give it away in scholarship money. They just invest it elsewhere in the AD like facility upgrades.

I didn't have space to put "additional" on the OP

In all seriousness, I’m certainly not a WBB fan, but I do believe LSU’s net loss in WBB will decrease (get better) with the Mulkey hire, even with the increase in expenses.

Remains to be seen, but I’m pretty confident in that given the excitement level surrounding the hire. Last I heard, they’ve already sold over 2000 new season tickets and gotten over $300k in new donations this week alone.

No it wont. How much are tickets?
And there almost zero TV revenue.

So the $4.2 million is what your losing now? Holy shite.

The situation is worse than I thought.

Read the thread up to this point. Everything you've said so far has been pretty dumb.
