Been to the Grove a few times and have never been able to look past a few things. Tailgating is all condensed into a small arse area where people are literally on top of each other with fraternities backed up to family tailgates. It is incredibly easy to get lost. The Grove lacks port-a-potties and leaves damn near everyone in the Grove to wait in line for the few bathrooms in the Student Union. This leaves you having to plan your piss well before it gets to the unbearable stage. You will also be stopped (especially wearing opposing colors) if you're drinking alcohol outside of a cup. I have always thought this to be a stupid, unnecessary rule. Also find it ridiculous that people wear blazers and khakis to football games, but that doesn't really have anything to do with tailgating.

I can't stand that place when you have to walk through that mess on gameday. No other place has more 40 year old power drinkers, immature a holes and vile individuals than that one. If I were an LSU fan I'd love it. To have to say a few years ago I wouldnt take my wife and kids to that place again is not good. I love all other venues in the SEC and look forward to many more years but I'm not going back there. It's awful.

I have taken fans of several different schools and their experience has always been quite the opposite. They all said how surprised they were at how accommodating everyone was after the rumors they heard before. You, my friend, are full of shite. Being called "tiger bait" is all in good fun, so I'm sorry if that ruined your experience.

I walked through, got Tigah Baited by most, laughed and gave a thumbs up or a smile and then immediately got offered food and drink and hospitality. This happened probably 5-10 times as we walked to the stadium from the levee

yep, this is what happens at 99% of LSU tailgates.

Kinda hard to tailgate while falling down a hill.

Bama's tailgating is pretty standard although the setting on campus amongst all the buildings is really pretty. The single most impressive thing about ours imho is the logistical setup of the entire tailgating game day experience with the shuttle system and how totally organized everything is. They have it down to an art form.

Yea, my favorite part of tailgating in Tuscaloosa is just being on the quad and looking around at campus around me, seeing folks I don't see a lot and all that. It's certainly not the rowdiest or best food or anything like that. I'm sure it isn't much different to a visitor than half the other big SEC schools.

Well they very accurately left Mizzou off. Our tailgate sucks. It could be great, but the University cracks down on it intensely, and very deliberately has made it a non-event over the course of the last decade. Anytime a tailgate spot starts to become popular, the University fun police shut it down.

Thanks for sharing CG. Some are shooting the messenger at the moment ... it's just a list.

ETA: Florida and Miss State are overrated.

Never done Florida, Bama, Auburn or & A&M.

South Carolina tailgates are fun, I surprisingly enjoyed UGA and Ole Miss speaks for itself.

Like an earlier poster, I’m sure Vandy is a lot fun just for the simple purpose of being in Nashville and got snubbed.

LSU being #1 shouldn’t be a shock to anyone.

Tailgating is all gonna be personal prefernce. I’ve been to away games at all but Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC.

I grew up going to a lot of Gator games, so I thought LSU was a better more relaxed on alcohol version of that, and Auburn was similiar as well. I can understand away fans not enjoying the Grove as much as Ole Miss fans, especially if you don’t know anyone or have a couple of tents to party at. Athens was fun too, Good all around tailgating, great town and bar scene, but nothing super special or different about the tailgating itself.

Tuscaloosa is my personal favorite tailgating spot, because it was like a mix of all the tailgating I’d gone to in the SEC. The Quad area was just like the Grove, and they also had spread out tailgating all around that throughout town. I’ve been to 3 games at Alabama, and it’s always been the most fun for me.
