i think this kid saw how much attention Keenan Allen got, albeit negative, and he wanted to make a name for himself.

he may never see the field at auburn or he may be great for them, either way, they will suck his d#%^ forever for doing that to Saban and Bama.

Basically, Saban didn't kiss his arse as much as Chizik was obviously ready to. Sometimes that's how it happens. It's February. There is still a ton of time left until NSD 2011. I wouldn't be surprised to see this kid flip-flop...a lot.

Do you need us to make you feel better, or can you really not figure this one out?

After reading the story, it appears that Bama didn't have room for him and he got his feelings hurt and picked Auburn. No big deal...at least you have a coach that can read a clock.

Now go yourself...

I'll say it...this kid is no good.

Saban feined an offer in order to hang this kid around Chizik's neck like an albatross.

Not sure I follow his logic.

The school that does not want him to take visits and has big plans for him somehow wants him less than a school that says, "take all the visits you want"?

The kid is butthurt because Bama wasn't ready for him to commit.

Good luck at Auburn, because the only way you fulfill the dream of running out the tunnel at Bryant-Denny will be out of the visitor's tunnel. Saban ain't takin' ya now.

This kids recruitment was badly handled by Alabama. That's the bottom line. Auburn is much more hungry then Bama right now. Bama's is enjoying its National Championship and dropped the ball on a great in state recruit who made it clear he wanted to commit.
I don't think the kid did anything wrong. Bama screwed up and Auburn is the beneficiary of Bama's screw up. Auburn just wanted him more. Bama got out recruited again.

Absolutely. I think his back was against the wall to pick someone today too. He had had already called the press conference and was on his way to it when this all supposedly went down. Speculation on my part but I think there was also a degree of some face-saving going on. I feel bad for the kid in a way. It's always been his dream to play at Bama and something got in the way that probably should never have come up. It's really kind of sad.

I agree if it was strictly his decision but he said his parents knew and he had discussed it with them on the way. I would have thought they would have had better judgement than that. I mean they obviously werent thinking about how this was going to impact him either. He commits to them at a later date no big deal, but they had to know doing it in this fashion would make it harder on their son. My son would have handled it differently if for no other reason than because I made him. He wouldnt act that way regardless of how upset the coach made him or me. There is a right and wrong way to handle everything the parents chose poorly. This isnt the 17 yr old kids fault its his parents.

This is ignorance of the utmost degree.

Did LSU drop the ball on Luther Davis?

NO. In both cases the school/coach layed out what they expected, the kid went against the grain, didn't like the results, and was left looking foolish. To save face both acted as though it was always there intention to commit/sign with the second school.

So basically, most people feel if Saban would have held his hand a little more, he would have committed to Bama?

Well frick that, I guess.

It is what it is. Auburn is alive and well and Bama has to deal with it. It only took Auburn 2 years and one coach to get back. It took Bama around 20 years to get a good coach again.

What? Alabama may have had some down years recently, but we still have more ten win seasons than Auburn during that time period, and the same amount of SEC titles. Auburn may be back to getting to eight or more wins, but Alabama is back to winning national titles.

So?

Which school brought the next NC to the state after 1992?

Alabama. Again.

So you think Auburn's going undefeated in 2010, like 1993?

Well then, there's no reason to think Alabama won't continue to compete at a high level.

The way the kid did it was slimy and low down. It was a bit hurtful to some Bama Fans like he was washing our faces in it. But in any event we move on.

Personally, I think he was scared of competition and took the easy way out to Auburn where he can almost be granted immediate playing time. That's just my opinion. In the end, some kids don't want to sit a year or maybe two. Instead, they would rather go to schools that won't contend for National Titles and get their early PT. That's JMO though.
