I was at that game and it was surreal watching the flames rise above the stadium.

My wife and I walked by The Barn on our way to the stadium. We were running a little late. I noticed the grill and the Nissan truck parked next to The Barn because I had a truck like it. We walked to the other side of the stadium (west side), got to our seats, and saw the flames. Couldn't have been more that 10 minutes since we walked by there.

To those who grew up in Auburn and to those who went to school when basketball games were still played in there, The Barn was a well-loved building. Before the Coliseum was built, Auburn played there. I saw Maravich and Mengelt duel in The Barn, played intramural ball there, broke into the place no telling how many times when all the other gyms were closed.

It was sad to see it go, but the university would have torn it down eventually. All of the public universities got Army Air Corp surplus hangers and other buildings in the post WWII era. Many used them as basketball arenas and other auditoriums. Not sure there are any left, but The Barn went out in dramatic fashion.

Weird. I would think the 3rd straight loss would occupy the average Gump brain more than a game played decades ago, between two rivals.

I was at the game in that upper deck that looked like it was on fire.

I was there. That camera angle is about the same angle I had from our seats. Could’ve sworn stadium was on fire.

Shoutout to Raion Hill for having both a pick 6 and a pick 2 in the game to win it for us. A rare occurrence where we benefitted from Jordan Hare’s weirdness.

ETA Auburn is a blast. Great campus and great people.
