Who should LSU thank for Burrow?

quote:

If not for Tom Herman, there’s little chance Burrow would be a starting quarterback in the SEC today.

quote:

I owe a lot to Coach Herman. He was really the only coach from a big-time program that had any faith in me,” Burrow said

Thanks a lot TOM...

For Dan to continue to be known as the QB whisperer he must recruit 3 star quarterbacks.

Burrow is too good

OP isn't really an LSU fan. He's a Burrow fan. He'd have a gator logo next to his name if Joe had gone there.

Then what did you lose it from, I guess those 3 TD passes didn't mean shite?

I'm obviously referring to our QB. We didn't lose that game because of Trask so I'm not really sure what argument the OP is making unless he is saying by pursuing Burrow we keep him away from LSU.

So, Burrow is 1-1 against Florida... 50%...

Because that’s totally important to the QB potential that was in Burrow.

The OP is just ignorant. Burrow has been playing great this year.
Mullen is 1-1 against Burrow and the 1 win Mullen has is with Franks as QB, so that is saying something.

Don’t be a moron OP, the internet doesn’t forget.

According to Sports Illustrated, Burrow never considered Florida. This is "what if" story by a Florida newspaper.
\
"The weekend in Baton Rouge—the food, the film study and, even more so, the lure of playing time—“turned the tide” in his transfer recruitment, Orgeron said. Burrow arrived for his visit after a one-day trip to Cincinnati, the only other team Burrow requested to speak with and the one many considered the favorite, Orgeron among them
"

Per SI, LSU had to beat out Cincinatti

I think Florida fans wanted to pursue Burrow last year and he is clearly a great QB and better than Franks, but I can't think of a Mullen loss where having Burrow turns that loss into a win. Maybe Kentucky last year? Burrow wasn't going to stop Drew Locke from dragging his nuts on our defense last November. Burrow wasn't going to stop Fromm from abusing McWlliams after CJ went down in the WLOCP last year. And if you switch the QBs on the teams this past Saturday, Burrow doesn't beat LSU for you with the scheme and performance of the defense.

So, dumb OP.

Oldest rumor in the book. Saban wanted Brees, he was not obliged

Yup, it was between Cincinnati and LSU... Saw something in his hometown paper about it.

Joe pretty much knew he had a starting spot at LSU waiting for him, with Brennan being the only real competition. And why not....Great tradition and fan support second to none. The only thing they needed for years was a decent quarterback.

JB was never going to Florida. The biggest miss is that Herman didn't get him to go to Texas.

It made him a bad NFL coach, which is why he returned to college.

Good point...I don't understand that either. That guy could really develop quarterbacks and he was Joe's mentor at OSU. Look at what he did for Cardale Jones.

Um, no. The Miami medical staff passed on Brees.

Kinda defines the franchise. I read a story about how both Nick and Terry met with Brees and absolutely loved him. As a Bama fan, I'm glad he didn't get his way.

Mullen had no desire to recruit Gardner Minshew at State either. Even though Minshew grew up a State fan.

I think you're being shortsighted. We really won't know if it was a good decision for a few years. Bringing in a transfer would likely have led to transfers from FL and/or decommits/no-commits from recruits.

Look, we get it. Burrow is having a great year. You all love him and want to have his babies. But he's not the only QB in the world. Dan needs certain types of QBs to run his system. Who knows if Burrow would be this successful under Mullen.

Honestly it looks like it worked out well for all parties involved (Ohio St, LSU, FL).

Get over yourself, Honcho.

Unless Burrow wins the national championships or even SEC championship then what did it matter? Mullen wanted to stick with his younger QBs.
