Poor execution but I see what you tried to do.

I'd give them the DL edge for sure. Maybe LB as well.

Get sarcmeter checked out bruh... 9.75/10 and stuck the landing... points off for weakness in starting degree of difficulty.

I'm gonna wait until I know the status of DRob's eligibility for 2018 before I respond to this thread. That way I can argue how can a team with an experienced DL, 2 ALLSEC DBs, the best OLB from last year, 4 experienced 5* receivers, 5* RB, an experienced Oline coached by the best, and Jake Fromm at QB take a step back. Yeah, I'll wait until I know DRob's status before I say something.

DRob's status doens't have an affect on us taking a step back next year, IMO. The "step back" part of the equation is mostly about the question marks at CB and linebacker. We will still go into next year with Godwin, Hardman, Ridley, and Nauta being the main pass catchers which is certainly nothign to be down about.

It is easy to say we will take a step back. How close were we to the top of the mountain as we lost the NC in OT to Alabama and the refs. Our schedule is embarrassing as far as the ooc games. We have the talent to win the SEC east without breaking a sweat. Of course, we have to actually play the games before we can book our ticket to Atlanta. Kirby and the coaching staff are doing things that Mark Richt couldn't do. Motivate them to play to the level expected everyday. Practice is just as important as the games to Kirby. If you won't put the effort into practice, then there is somebody that will and will be 1st string come game time. Kirby has told recruits that he will be recruiting someone just as good, if not better for your spot next year. In other words, you better give it 100% everyday or you will be sitting on the bench beside the 3rd string punter. That is the big difference between Kirby and Mark Richt and that is the difference from 2015 and 2017. I am hoping he has them hungry and more focused from last year because of what was accomplished and what is obtainable.

Phil Steele has Bama and LSU tied for first with UGA at #3 in his DB Unit Rankings. If Malkom Parrish was the best they had to offer at one corner in 2017, they are hurting there in 2018.

Sarc meter is just fine. The lack of quotes is where the execution falters. It appeared as if he was making a statement.

I was playing an idiot. That was the point. Quotes would have implied I was quoting others.

I'm not blaming the refs for the loss, but you're being willfully obtuse if you don't recognize some of the MASSIVE, undoubtedly game-changing calls/no-calls the refs had. And I'm not pretending it was all one way, I'm sure there were head scratchers they called that benefitted us to boot. But:
-Calling Simmons offside on the punt block (when he was most certainly not offsides) was a backbreaker. We're already up multiple TDs and would get the ball back inside the 15.
-One of bama's TDs the lower receiver (if watching on TV) had like a 2 yard head start off the line that should have called that TD back
-late in the game swift got his facemask almost turned around sideways with no call
Those are just the ones I remember with the punt block being the most egregious. Again, bama was the best team in the country and showed it, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think those calls absolutely affected the outcome.

This is news to me. Who are you counting as our two best DL from last year?
I could easily say Tyler Clark (Who supplanted Thompson) and Rochester, with a nod to Ledbetter.

We also gain a Notre Dame starter in the DL.

- Simmons was offsides and our guy moved early. The correct call deadens the play and we re-punt from 5 yards farther back. That's pretty simple.
- Miraculous TD throw to Ridley Najee Harris is being full blown tackled in the end zone as he comes back for the ball
- Tua was facemasked on a 3rd down play that literally ended up on the cover of Sports Illustrated
So, in the end, if we had someone go back and recall the game correctly, do all the corrections help Georgia or Alabama more? Probably Georgia to a small extent, I guess. However, the biggest play that people are up in arms about literally wouldn't have happened anyway and we would have been rekicking again if the call was made correctly. Would Georgia have blocked that 2nd punt? I mean, maybe? I dunno. The punt thing is just completely a non-starter. It's moot. If your point is they got the calls wrong then you have to say they got both the call they made wrong and the call they missed wrong. And the one they missed is a dead ball.
I actually think that by far the biggest missed call for Georgia was that facemask on Swift. That was a big miss. And the 2 calls that were missed on plays against us ended up not mattering because we made big plays on both of them (TD to Ridley and I believe Tua escaped the facemask call). But they were blatantly obvious calls that the crew missed.
If the punt block thing hadn't also had a false start and was clearly a totally blown call that should have stood............I'd be irate as a Georgia fan. But like I said, it wouldn't have stood, and the others are bad calls but not game changing bad calls. It would all just kind of mix in the "that sucked" stratosphere of things for me if it happened to my team (much like the O-lineman down field against us in 2013 for Auburn).
JMHO

Parrish wasn't the best CB we had to offer. Our All-SEC CB De'Andre Baker was.
I am feeling pretty good with Mark Webb and Tyson Campbell, though. I really feel good about our secondary for the first time in several years.

I don't remember specifics on Campbell - was he thought to be mature and ready to step in on Day 1? Is that the plan?
