It is a very good thing that you are not knocking Arkansas... Because if you were, I could answer you by asking you a question.

"Do you know, how I know, you are an idiot?"

SMU did upgrade. Sonny is a good coach. His hire at Cal is the most perplexing in the history of CFB. That was never going to work out. Of course, no one is accusing Cal of being smart. They have the most debt of any athletic program in major college sports. Cali idiots gonna Cali though.

His first job was coaching at G5 Louisiana Tech. He inherited a team that went 4–8 the previous year under that shitass Dooley. SMU was a little worse off when Morris took over, but it's safe to say Dykes handily outclassed him when comparing their first HC gigs.

But Dykes was worse than Bert when he was at Cal. His performance at that job set his career back immensely. I guess we'll see how Dykes handles SMU, but he took over for a coach who didn't get fired, which makes all the difference, so I expect him to have some decent success pretty much immediately. I don't think I'm being pure homer when I say I prefer Morris at this point in their careers.

Meh.

There are reasons to believe this could work out, but it's tough to get excited about a guy who's already flamed out. Frankly, him going to Cal was always a head-scratcher, but whatever - you can be a P5 HC in a beautiful city or you can waste your career in Ruston.
Bottom line was Morris was getting it done and I'm sorry to see him go.

That being said when he beats the odds and goes 10-2 it'll be interesting to watch someone take another coach of ours.

Well Arkansas is in the SEC and SMU is not and who will have a harder time to win as a head coach? I think Arkansas will have a harder time to compete for the SEC west division and SMU will have an easier time to win their division.

I think we got a quality coach who runs the offensive system our team needs to use to be competetive. He also has great ties to a good recruiting area.

And we didn't have to fork over a ton of money to get him,so if he don't pan out we won't look like idiots for overpaying a coach who may not pee a drop in the sec..
