If you're going to beat Alabama, this year is the best opportunity a team will ever get!

This is not a post to knock Saban! He is clearly an outstanding coach and one of the best of all time. With that being said, when is the last time Alabama entered the season with two new coordinators, without a veteran QB, RB or a stud WR, not to mention it lost three starting OL! I know the defense also lost some key players, but not nearly to the extent of the offense.
We all know Alabama has an enormous amount of talent on the roster, but that's a lot of new faces to replace, especially when you have two new coordinators that are trying to implement totally new schemes.
I'm not saying Alabama will lose five games and end up in the bottom of the West division, but if there was a year where there might be a drop off and some upsets, this year would be it.

And come Nov they will still be top 10. Yeah probably a down year for bama standards. Bama fans sure got it rough.

Saban has seemed happier this offseason than I can ever remember. So either he really has mentally checked out like many have argued here. Or, he feels pretty good about his team. I am betting it is the latter.
Alabama has been the preseason #1 team seven times under Saban. And he has won 6 national championships. But only once did he win the national championship when ranked #1 in the preseason. The other seasons Alabama won a championship under Saban they were preseason #5, #3 (twice), and #2 (twice).
In the last twenty years, only twice has the preseason #1 team ultimately won the national championship; Alabama in 2017 and USC in 2004.
I just have a hunch that Saban feels pretty good about where Alabama is at.

Not gonna hold my breath. We host Bama this year. Hoping for a fun game.

Exactly. Look I hope we do well, like everyone on the forum does for their team. It seems almost every time we think it’s over ole Nick pulls some shite.

Have plenty of studs. You’ll see

No we did not. This OL will be much better than last year. The only new OL that’s inexperienced is Proctor and he will grow.
QB we shall see. I don’t think Milroe has been given a fair shake by our fan base.

Well that is certainly something Texas fans should be familiar with.

Beating Bama has become old hat for us in Baton Rouge

maybe next year they will have two new coordinators again

I have a feeling Saban goes boring, he tries to run that continously moving clock, and gets the success that he wants. Blake Sims style.
Saban losing three regular season games really does not make sense.

Sounds an awful lot like 2015
Sure our QBs don’t have a lot of starts, and WR room is good but not great until proven otherwise
Lol at thinking we’re hurting at RB or OL though. Seasoned vets at both RB1 and RB2 and a Josh Jacobs clone at RB3. RT has 1,014 career snaps, RG has 1,038 snaps, C has 1,213 snaps, and LG has 420. The only one without a start or a snap to his name is the LT and he was the top OT in his class, and top 10 player overall. Think we’ll be fine.

There's a big difference between starting and coming off the bench. There is a reason they are coming off the bench. They may prove to be incredible OL, but they have to prove it on the field first and it's not going to be easy with teams like LSU and Auburn coming on strong!

Roster is full of 4 and 5 star players. Just about every class on the roster is too 2 or 3.
Lost some people… tough shite.

Even with their All American qb returning Kelly will find a way to lose 3 regular season games.
