Texas - A lot of contenders but no one is out in front

UF clearly over FSU

Ole Miss

Tennessee isn't a terrible pick, but Vandy has legs. They've got half-decent athletics, far superior academics, money, and far more important location.

Texas is the clear winner in Texas. In fact, Texas is probably the epitome of the type of school you're looking for with this question.

Texas is practically a brand. Sports are so-so at the moment, but they'll be fine. Good academic reputation, in a popular and influential city, with tons of money. Other good ones, IMO, include UM and UVA. Given that UGA and UF are the best all around schools in pretty significant states, they should likely look for similar status.

UGA is the biggest stakeholder statewide. One of our graduates created Tech.

I always thought if Alabama were like Louisiana and we combined and folded AU into the UA system, we would be a powerhouse. Their engineering and science programs with the business, law school, and UAB's medical research would be an incredible organization.

Then would much rather have UCF than the woman's college or the cowards of Gainesville

Do not want to be represented by a school who is too scared to play its rivals

UF only has one rival in the state of Florida, that being our little sister in Tallahassee.

The other schools in the state are mid-majors at best.

More than likely this is what would happen.

We'd combine Alabama and Auburn and beat the frick out of all of you even more in footbaw and be pretty damned formidable in academics.

So adding Auburn to Alabama in football would equal a better team? How so, exactly?

Weak attempt

If anyone was mismajor it would be you and FSU

Neither school has the football history that Miami has
Your 3 National Championships apiece do not measure up to the U

If we are measuring against running a thug p.o.s. outlaw program, then yes no one measures up to Da U

That would be like suggesting La Tech in Louisiana.

LSU is a much higher ranked university academically than La Tech. Miami is ranked higher than any school in Florida. They are a P5 school athletically with a lot of historic success in football and baseball and marginal success in basketball. They are in a major metro area.

The U is a joke and only famous for 1980s thug football.

Do not believe everything you hear about the U

The late 90's to 2003 run was not ran like that

If it was left up to a state-wide vote, State would be chosen.

When compared to other small overpriced private schools. You can't compare private schools to state universities the scope and purpose is different. Private schools serve themselves while state universities offer education to citizens of the state at a reasonable tuition.

UF and Miami are pretty close in USNews college rankings, who currently ranks Miami at 44 and the Gators at 50 among national universities. Most other rankings show Florida significantly ahead of Miami. Forbes, ARWU and Washingtion Monthly all have Florida ahead of Miami.

Historically, Miami has the edge in sports. However, the Gators have made up a lot of ground in the last 20 years or so.

That being said, I would begrudgingly take the Gators based on cost and current sports scenarios. Its nearly half price for tuition.

Geez...standing up for the Gators is unpleasant.

MSU - The top five industries in the state are in the fields of study at State. Agriculture being #1.

Unless Ole Miss is willing to cut down the trees in the grove, fence it in, and fill it with cows. They're shite out of luck
