Both Ds we're nasty as hell. They were about even IMO.if either one has an edge it would be LSU, but definitely not by much

LSU's defense was better imo.

LSU's defense was more ferocious and were major head hunters. bama defense was just consistent

I could see this, although the Vols didn't play LSU in 2003 so I don't remember them as well.

as for everyone else I hope we "backdoor" our way into another championship this year. I wouldn't mind "backdooring" to a championship every year for that matter. It doesn't matter how you get there you still have to play the game.

Which Defense was better?

Looking strictly at defenses, that's too close for me to call.

Can we all agree that a game between these two teams would end up being one of those weird low scoring affairs? Like 3-0 or 5-3 or something like that, both Ds were just insane

2009 Alabama would win because of Leigh Tiffin. Chris Jackson and the other LSU kicker that year were absolutely dreadful.

Dirty - maybe someone will remember exactly but OU losing had nothing to do w LSU getting in the NC game. I am pretty sure that it was ND losing to Syracuse the last week of the season that got LSU in. FWIW by the end of the season and bowl game I think LSU's D was better than Bama's. Funny that an Ole Miss fan's analysis comes down to the fact that LSU gave up 7 to Ole Miss in 2003 while Bama's gave up 3 to Ole Miss in 2009. Silly logic esp since Eli played for Ole Miss in 2003.

LSU was better against the SEC in 2003 than Bama both over the 8 games or over 9.
They gave up less ppg.
8 games = 78 lsu bama 85
9 game = LSU 91 Bama 98
I don't know where people are digging this shite up

Landry and webster disagree

That's two NFL starters and two Pro Bowlers.

There could be an argument against that in a couple of years. Kareem Jackson is already a starter in the NFL. Mark Barron may be a 1st or 2nd rounder next year. Javier Arenas has also made an impact in the NFL and his role will grow.

yeah Marquise Hill, Marcus Spears, Kyle Williams and Chad Lavalais was a weak pass rushing d line. They wish they had Cody's fat rolls.

The poster compliments LSU's 2003 defensive line, and that's your reply?

That was before the SEC championship game win was put into the formula. We didnt BACK our way in. After LSU beat UGA in the SEC championship we jumped USC.

Lets not good facts get in way of a good argument, but here is a clear one you're leaving out:

Fact the Qb position as a whole and nearly team by team is much weaker in 2009 vs 2003.

Go check out the QB's.

Dude where is your reasoning coming from this makes no sense. OU was still #1 in the BCS if anything criticize us for getting in over USC but this shite makes no sense.
