How do you know what Strong is saying is fact?

What I thought too. Just because someone said this to him it doesn't make it true. Of course, NPR has their narrative that they are going to follow.

and another question. Whatever SEC school this was....WHY DID THEY INTERVIEW HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE? I am assuming they did a background check before he interviewed and it would be easy to see his wife is white. So stupid. Not buying it

Uh, I'm saying he's a liar, or he got that insight from some Auburn version of Red McCombs. Nobody involved in the process would ever say something so ridiculous.

Yeah, that's how I feel about it. If Charlie has a hard time understanding the way you talk, or carry yourself can cost you employment opportunities, then he's a dumbass.

I think this is total bullshite; a complete lie.

This thread needs some clarity.

The institution in question obviously did not tell him that during the interview. That's just silly and would lead to a giant law suit. Even the school in question isn't that dumb.

Also, the article that the OP linked did not quote Charlie. He's never said anything publicly about the supposed incident. The quote from from a jackass shite starter reporter in Orlando that is regurgitating things he heard. It's not reliable coming from that twit.

Having said that, Charlie was told by someone that he was not hired because of his wife. He never said that he believed that to be true to or that he felt offended by it.

The rumor mill took care of all that for him. He's always known he'd get his shot.

That was probably put in his head from close friends

Read above. Of course an AD never said that.

I think most people here are looking through whatever-color-your school's-color-is glasses.

I wouldn't doubt that it may have happened to him at many of the schools in the south - that was the culture of many of these old school guys "running/supporting" successful SEC programs. It is what it is - or, I truly hope, it was what it was and many of these people are gone.

IF Charlie was told that, he should have knocked the guy out because he was lying to Charlie. The ONLY way a school wouldn't hire a guy because of this wife is if his wife is a terrorist.

I don't believe it. This smacks of just another attempt to stir a pot that perhaps everyone should just back away from, instead.

Do ANY of you really believe a UNIVERSITY OFFICIAL would tell him that??? This is laughably stupid.

This is not 1961, folks. No one would be willing to risk their professional neck- along with the reputation of the university- by TELLING a potential HC candidate something like that.

I just don't buy it.

And it happens to be Florida: I am truly ashamed of my university.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion if I were you. I highly doubt that UF would've handled it that way.

Now Auburn? Oh yeah. And I don't fault the entire school, just the one or two fools that seemed to be running the joint at the time.

You just described the author that was quoted. It's nothing more.

NO AD told Charlie that. No one in an official capacity told Charlie that. Charlie has never brought it up publicly that I'm aware of. This isn't a Charlie issue. It's a shock jock style "journalist". He does this all the time to get page hits.

Disagree. It was reported that Charlie sounded like a retard during his interviews. Malzahn, after 2010 was not given a top 6 SEC job. He had to leave and coach in Statesboro Arkansas to prove he can coach as a HC. Smart, who has multiple NC's as a DC, has not got a major job opportunity yet. You never hear of those two claiming race. Point being, major programs have other things to consider when hiring a coach, other than just X's and O's.

Exactly. That would be absolute career suicide for someone in that capacity to say that.

Think of the Paula Deen witch hunt- that ended up being proven as untrue. Anyone really believe this wouldn't have EXPLODED all over the media? The media* is so hungry for a story like this, when they don't have one- they fabricate one.

*Okay- to be fair, I don't mean to use blanket terms. But you can bet your last dime that's what this guy is all about. And I wouldn't be shocked to hear Charlie Strong himself address this as such, IF it catches any fire, at all- which I doubt.

Sillier to admit it to their face.

Just in case no one saw that this was my first reply on the first page. I'm not saying it's true, but it'd be bad, real bad if it were. I personally have significant doubts.
