If there are enough 1 loss teams in the other Power 5 it will be hard for a one loss sec runner up to jump that team in my opinion. I think the committee would weight conference champions heavier than runner ups unless you have a marquee non conf win the other team doesn't. UGA with Notre Dame would be sitting pretty if Irish win out but then the Irish get back into the discussion with one loss as well. Bama Fla St game hurts them if UGA were to pull the upset. I think the PAC 12 and Big 10 champs get in. Big 12 could be left out again.

That would depend on how many losses other conference champions have and if the SECCG was close.

This is the most important question to this topic. If the Big 10 and Big 12 have a 2 loss champion, either Georgia or Alabama would have a really good case at being in the playoff (assuming they both finish the regular season undefeated).

So that's what LSU fans are down to? That's pathetic.

LSU fans?

The SEC East is like the city of New Orleans without the Union...a 3rd world depleted country.

I think the losing team would get screwed.

IT should not happen, but I think there is a strong desire to keep two teams from the SEC out.

Most P-5 would need to look really bad at the end and ND would need 2 losses.

Ah yes, this year when I think of the gauntlet teams have to run in the West I feel sorry for them. I mean how can anyone compete when they have to play the likes of LSU, MSU, OM, Arkansas, and AM. It's truly a miracle if anyone can go undefeated through that schedule.

Playing in the east is irrelevant, it's overall strength of schedule that matters. At the moment Georgia has a stronger SOS via ESPN FPI, and both play Auburn as their lone remaining ranked team on the schedule. So you can go ahead and throw that argument out the window.

Didn't your team lose by 30 to Mississippi State? And didn't Mississippi State lose to an Eastern team by 30 the following week?

Don't get too pumped about beating Florida. By the end of the year, you will have 3 losses to Alabama teams.

No. The SEC Championship should serve as a quarterfinal in that case.

If those 2 teams played right now, UGA wins, close.

If they meet in the SECCG, UGA may beat em by 17.. UGA is scary good, imo.

I don't think Alabama is going to the playoff unless we win the SEC. Perhaps if Auburn finishes 10-2, loses to us and beats UGA, but other than that our resume will be ugly.

Would be the first time Nick Saban's Alabama team has ever lost by 14+. Would also be the first pro-style team we've lost to at all in..............I dunno, a long time.

So, that'd be one helluva accomplshiment.
