If the SEC added West Virginia instead of mizzou would we call them Yankees too?

I thought of this the other day. Do they get a free pass because of John Denver? They’re geographically more north than mizzou but culturally more southern I’d say.

West Virginia doesn't have poop swastikas or a crap ton of SJWs. Only similarity is the meth. Which about 85% of the SEC has plenty of.

I’m sort of getting used to having A&M on the schedule every year. I could get used to WVU. I just cannot get used to Missouri being in the SEC. it doesn’t feel right.

No, it’s just Mizzou. A&M is weird but they found their rightful place in the conference.

it is what it is. Im so used to being in the east already that LSU isnt a name that comes to mind first when thinking of the west or just SEC. no disrespect, just not used to playing you

Well we rarely play Tennessee and Georgia but they are still two of the big6 SEC programs that should come to mind.
Bama LSU Georgia Tennessee Florida Auburn.
Historically and currently. The rest are just fillers. I mean there’s some programs that have made noise but at the end of the day the big 6 are the big boys.

West Virginia was literally created because that part of Virginia did not want to be associated with the confederates during the civil war.

You are correct. But let’s be honest in 2018, they are culturally more like Tennessee and Kentucky than Missouri is. Missouri is more like Iowa Nebraska and Kansas than Tennessee.

It very much depends which part of Missouri you are talking about. No one will deny northwest Missouri being far closer to culture of the Midwest. Ozarks are their own and I imagine not really dissimilar to the appalachia areas. Really Missouri has quite a bit of variance to its geography.
