re: If Texas never beaten Georgia, would they still be getting all this preseason hype?

Do people forget they still have four losses in a no defense conference?
Would UF if they hadn't beaten Michigan. The teams were very similar last year.

Texas is not the typical Big 12 team. Check out scores of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and a couple of other teams. Texas actually tries to play defense.
In short...it is part narrative and part reality.

I’m trying to remember, how many starters for Georgia sat out the sugar bowl? And how many coaches for Georgia were not involved?

Georgia pretty much mailed it in. They had no interest in winning an irrelevant game. The game will always have an asterisk on it.

Baker was the only one that mattered, if he played, their top we producer in that game would have had no production.
That said, Holyfield's slow as frick 40 was on display as if he just ran a 4.5 he would have rushed for over 200. Kept getting tackled by his ankle with nothing but green in front of him. Elite UGA backs take that shite to the house.

I don’t know about all that, you play the team it’s in front of you. I’m just curious how many players sat out the game and I thought there were some key coaches that weren’t involved either.

Holyfield was decent in that game.
Swift was the one who didn't show up.

Caden Sterns didn't play in that game.
Brandon Jones was playing with a messed up ankle
Hager didn't play much in that game.
Texas was without 2 players on D.
Injuries and suspensions happen in football. Very rarely does any team have their best players on the field
Clemson played both CFP games without one of their top DL.

Mel Tucker (DC) had left for Colorado, and Jim Chaney was about to leave, so hard to know where his head was at.
ETA: UGA played a brutally bad game, but the “they didn’t care” narrative is always bullshite. If they didn’t care, they should have.

Media darlings nearly always get hype.
Texass, ND, USC, Meeechigan nearly always get pre-season media love, deserved or not.

Hager being out was no loss that’s almost comedic

I think D'Andre Baker was the only starter that I can think of.
I don't remember about the coaches. We had several leave this past year, but I can't recall exactly when they left.
Honestly, I think we ran into the perfect storm. Texas is talented, we were unhappy about not making the playoffs (Which we shouldn't have) and the team came out flat against a motivated team.
I know you guys are hated rivals, and I get that, but they are improving.
Good news for Texas A&M is it looks like you guys got a nice fit with Fisher and you are improving too. Recruiting is going well and you showed great improvement last year. I am excited about our game with you guys, but dread it at the same time. Should be a slugfest.

Exactly this. Give Texas credit. They have a talented game and went in wanting to win. They handed it to us and played a great game.

Oklahoma is the only blue blood in the B12.
Texas is mostly over hyped and over exposed because lots of people live in Texas

Your hatred of Texas is beyond weird.
You are a Kentucky fan. Stay in your lane.
It is all subjective data.
Texas has won 900 games
Texas has played in two of the more meaningful CFB games. Nixon, Fayetteville, 1969.
2006 Rose Bowl. Keith Jackson's final game. A record auidence and Vince Young.
Plus you have 1964 Cotton Bowl.
Arkansas vs Texas 1964
1965 Orange Bowl
All these games made Texas a name.
1960's and 70's shaped the narrative of college football.

Before television...
When you played on television in the 1960's and 1970's you were a big name.
aggy was never on TV. These facts will never change.
