This is the truth. They forced Lane out before the playoffs because they were "scared of tampering" but left all of his assistants behind to coach anyway....
...like players don't have an even closer relationship with the assistants than they do with the head coach.
I get it, though. They're pissed Lane left and that's okay. What I don't get, though, is all the hate and bluster they're heaping on him for when and how he left - like it was his decision to abandon the team when they were in contention for a natty.
Ole Miss fans are, in general, pretty naive. Look at how they insisted he wasn't leaving because "muh NIL changed everything" or "muh Oxford saved his life" or "muh family man."

OM fans just can't wrap their heads around a successful coach leaving Oxford for another job where he thinks he might be even more successful. It's like they never even looked at Lane's past when they finally hired their program's savior and now feel jilted.
I mean, c'mon man. Oxford aint all that. At least if a coach leaves for Tuscaloosa he can justify the move to the trailer park capital of the world for a chance to coach at a school with a history of CFB excellence. The attraction to coaching at Bama has nothing to do with Tuscaloosa and everything to do with the program.
Ole Miss football doesn't have that cache', or that history - never did. And living in Oxford (regardless of how nice it might be) isn't enough to keep a coach with ambition there when better opportunities arise. And in this case, both Lane and Nick agree that LSU was the better coaching opportunity.
Lane has a past, sure, but he's grown some since his job at Tenner. At least he wanted to stay and do the right thing by his team and players last year, even if the OM admin is really to blame for the how and why of his leaving.

Write another novel about it.

If you're going to say something like you did, at least have the huevos to stand up and defend what you said. Or, run away bitching about people replying to you with actual facts that show you to be a bullshite fountain on full display.
In Louisiana, the appropriate saying is "don't let your alligator mouth overload your jaybird arse".

Lane left because he didn't believe he could make a run with a team that made a run.
Humiliating.
Humiliating.

If I read his comments correctly, Kiffin said he wanted to win a natty. Making "a run" is a moral victory.
He didn't believe Ole Miss could win a natty, and they immediately proved him right.

Well if Golding is as bad as LSU fans believe and Lane is just slightly worse than Brian Kelly like you insist.....
They would have won a natty with him?
Right?
I mean surely he would have pushed them over the hump....being a coach almost at the level of Brian Kelly.
Bwahaha

I don't think Golding is bad, he just keeps putting a mediocre defensive product on the field.

Too soon to tell on Golding. It's pretty clear Kiffin has surpassed Kelly.

Is it pretty clear to you?
You sure now?
You weren't sure just a month back.
Now you are?
3 years after the rest of the world figured it out...
You sure?

That's funny coming from a fanbase who had to wait 42 years in between national championships

I said I'd take Kiffin over Kelly the offseason before Kelly was fired.

If Kiffin manages to not go to Atlanta and doesn't make the playoffs and LSU falters to 7-5.....
Sidewalk would've been right all along.
I will absolutely die laughing at him as he has now bailed on his position.
Please let him have been right all along.
