ALABAMA HAS 6 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS WITHIN THE LAST 20 SEASONS WHICH WOULD MAKE THEM THE #1 TEAM IN THE MODERN DAY COLLEGE FOOTBALL, LSU HAS 3 CLAIMED NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND 1 UNCLAIMED WITHIN THE LAST 20 SEASONS THEREFORE THAT WOULD MAKE THEM THE 2nd BEST TEAM IN MODERN DAY FOOTBALL. LAST I CHECK IT WAS ALWAYS #1 against #2 to be considered a legit rivalry at anything. All you other programs can take notes about who the best is however our championships speak for themselves.

Whether it is a rivalry or not, some of the most meaningful games Alabama has played over the last 15 years has been between these teams, I, for one, will miss it if we go to a 4 pod system with the addition of Tx and Ok.

Please don’t tell me you’re claiming 2011 as an unclaimed title, because that would be pitiful. There was a championship game, you didn’t win it.
The Alabama-LSU game has been a very important one over the past 20 years, that doesn’t make it a rivalry, you’re just flattering yourself. Auburn and Tennessee are rivals, LSU is not.

I understand this but why are so many tears shed by Bama win or lose?
If you almost never lose, it’s tough when you do…

Of course, it's an important game in the South and, yes, Alabama fans give a shite.

I could care less about a rival. I just want to know why if Bama is so quick to dismiss LSU as being a rival then why are they so obsessed with the game. When your start quarterback is sobbing after a regular season game then I think it’s more than just a regular matchup.
The reason McCarron was so emotional was that he grew up an Alabama fan and the pressure to win was overwhelming to him. He had only lost 1 game in two years. Also, he is an emotional person. Finally, that was an incredible comeback in a big game - it crushed LSU. No doubt there were far more tears of sorrow than tears of relief or joy.
Many people don't understand Alabama's tremendous will to win. They see a talented, well-coached team, and many want to dehumanize them, but Alabama's incredible will to win is an unrecognized key to their amazing success over the past 100 years.

I just find it hysterical that anytime on this board someone says the LSU-Alabama game is a "rivalry" the Gumps meltdown more than Chernobyl.
Its like some weird badge of honor to hop in that thread and pronounce with every fiber of their being that LSU is not a rival.

If 9 out of 10 make a rivalry we will take it.

I wouldn’t hold a high regard by flattering myself over losing to Alabama. It’s only common sense and statistics. In addition you shouldn’t hand your hat on the 2011 season and we all know why.

The truth of the matter is that “Alabama is clearly afraid of Lsu”. The success of LSU is a direct threat to Alabama’s CF dominance. Alabama’s success is 100% contributed to the fact that the Sec’s head office is in Alabama.

Because we demolished a clearly overmatched team in the championship game?

We already beat Alabama that year. Bama shouldn’t have been there. Lsu crushed all your hopes of a championship appearance until CAPTIN SAVE ALABAMA (SEC BIRMINGHAM OFFICE) showed up with a cape on and magically granted Alabama a second chance to get it right.

And then after next year's (2013) game AJ was jumping up and down on the field with Saban like a couple of carnival midgets. I don't think they even get that riled up for the iron bowl.

I never seen a Bama player cry after an Iron Bowl win.
