Alabama's biggest rivalry is with the NCAA rules committee.

This century the LSU/Bama game has often been the deciding factor for the west. But this just means the best two teams are playing and it generates a lot interest, prime time showings, and big ratings. It is not a traditional rivalry, simply the two most consistent teams in the same division over the last 20 years.

I absolutely agree with you on your take Viceman.

I want to beat you because if we beat Bama there is 99% chance that means we are going to the SEC Championship game, but I enjoy beating Ole Miss, and lately, A&M more.

Pre 21st century LSU - Ole Miss was a true rivalry. That is no longer true. I think 20 years from now, assuming we keep playing them yearly A&M may be looked upon as true rivalry.

It takes true Hate for each other in my opinion to make a rivalry . There is building between both fan bases plenty of true Hate and temper to each other. I only see it worsening as A&M improves. The potential is there.

lsu desperately wants to be seen as a blue blood of college football. It is not, so being considered rivals of alabama makes them think they are closer to that status.

Yes our worst 10 years in our history vs LSU'S best is a fair comparison right? Besides the 80's/50's Alabama has won a National championship every decade from the 1920's through the 2020's

Since coach Bryants death we had Perkins, Curry, Stallings, and Dubose to finish out the century. In that time, LSU won zero games in Baton Rouge against the mighty Crimson Tide. 30 years and 5 different coaches and LSU didn't win one single game at home vs ALABAMA.

I think BAMA fans know why LSU would be more than happy to look at the Barners and gators as their rivals.

That was true for one brief period in its history.

As to whether Bama/LSU is a rivalry - it is in the sense that it is often such an important game; and IMO, LSU has been the only program in college football who could consistently physically match up with Alabama in the last ~15 years. Even though Bama has won most of the games, LSU has usually played them tougher than anyone else with very little good fortune on their side.

Alabama coach Nick Saban says its a rivalry. That's good enough for me.

OK champ…fine… you are a rival, bless your little heart… now if you don’t mind, we need to get back to talking Auburn and Tennessee, so please excuse us….

It's usually the only game they have a chance of losing during the regular season besides Auburn since their schedule is so weak so of course it means a lot to them.

It is a rivalry. No other game on the schedule (other than Auburn) that Bama fans like to win more. (at least at the present)
