Dan Mullen's record as an SEC head coach is 54-53. He, Mark Stoops and James Franklin are the most overrated SEC HC's of the past 50 yrs.

.500 in the SEC is above average. A lot more SEC coaches in the past 20 years have been below .500 than above it.

To Illustrate: Kirby, Lane, Drink, Sark, Heupel, Kelly, and DeBoer were the only current* SEC coaches above .500 in SEC play. Venables just pulled up to .500.

Auburn has gone 11-28 since Malzahn left. Florida 12-19 since Mullen left.

It’s hard to win in the SEC.

Considering Florida has gone through 12 coaches...it is not exactly "easy to win at Florida" Orgeron and Miles won at LSU Kiffin is a better coach than both of them if I wanted championships I'm definitely going to LSU, the Florida job will be open again in 3-4 years. If your not going to LSU just stay at Ole Miss.

I’m biased but Ole Miss will give Lane all he wants PLUS grace to have a “bad” year and only win 8-9 games. Florida and LSU will run you out of town for that.

Doesn't really matter, he's about to get so much guaranteed money that he'd get paid either way.

Why not? OSU and IU have not been tested. ND and Oregon failed their tests.

Florida is cursed. It's gonna be decades before the Gators sniff a championship.

If he wants a no pressure chance at the playoffs then he should stay.

The top dogs don't run from pressure and usually want a bigger stage.

Of course, Billy Napier sucked as you all saw every Saturday and never should've been coaching outside the Sunbelt.

Muschamp and McElwain were over .500.
McElwain made it to the SECCG twice
Muschamp tied for the SEC East title but lost the tie breaker in 2012.

Mullen was doing fine but decided he didn't want to recruit and wanted to try the NFL. That was on him but he made it to ATL also.

Muschamp flopped again at S.Car and left coaching

McElwain had to go to G5 and couldn't win the MAC. No out of coaching with a show cause.

Mullen is at UNLV. His problem isn't Xs and Os and may be better in the NIL era.

Dumbass Billy Napier with UF talent beat Lane Kiffin with his 10 win team and NFL QB.

That should be the mic drop

A WR coach as the interim coach, an OC who last called plays for Alabama A&M (HBCU) and missing top 3 WRs.

It shows how poor of a staff Napier assembled also.

Maybe that's not where he and his family prefer to be.
Didnt he almost leave for AU and is constantly open to offers.

LOL stockpile talent. Sure they got some players, everyone does...it's the SEC. All that matters is that the 11 you run out on the field are good enough to win vs. the other teams 11....and Ole Miss has done that more than everyone in SEC except for Bama and GA...and we aint far behind them.

Recruiting rankings don't win games....FL, Auburn and LSU are prime examples of this.
