If Clowney is the best player in college football, can't he get USC a title?

Or are defensive players less impactful on the game by themselves than offensive players?

USC will be in contention for the national title this year. I firmly believe that.

Offense or defense, it takes more than one player.

It takes being great on both sides of the ball to win a title.

A defensive end by himself is not enough to win a title. Neither is a qb.

So what you're saying is.. We should put Clowney in at QB and we'd win the natty? ...I like it.

You mean Defensive linemen, by themselves.

The answer would be, yes, if the rest of the front four can't make up for this one guy being double teamed.

Carolina will Carolina themselves at some point in the season and call Jostens for a new batch of double digit season win rings.

But one of each and A LOT of luck can get you one.

His only accomplishment was beating Alabama and won the heisman around a weak cast of contenders. His stats were due to running up the score on weaker opponents when the games were out of hand.

I understand that Auburn had a good D-line and a ton of experience, but I firmly believe Cam Newton carried that team.

That team had a very good O-line, good RB core, decent WRs, something that is always overlook is how many of the guys on the lines were Juniors and Seniors...

Of course the QB/RB/WR are going to get the glory, but even Cam would not have been Cam had he had Tyler Wilson's O-line in front of him...

But Cam won at least 3-4 games that they would not have won without him

And he would not have won those games had he not had a good/decent line.

It's a circular argument.

Yeah, but you have to remember the Arkansas game could have been different if not for the cheap shot on Mallett's knee by Fairley. Wilson did a good job with little-no practice time for that week coming off the bench.

I don't remember Cam being a huge factor in the BCS-NC like their Defense and Dyer...

Not true what so ever. No QB in the SEC was taken out earlier than Johnny against Auburn, State, or Arky. Johnny misses 8 whole quarters, more than any starting QB in the country.
