do you think he would be successful with all the talent butch has brought in and be able to keep it going?
if i remember right he was their first realistic choice last time around he turned them down tho as did mike gundy i believe
some people might see strong as overrated now since he got to texas but that is just not a good fit imo kind of like rich rod and michigan he will do well at this next stop or maybe he'll turn texas around but getting the talent on offense will be tough with baylor, tcu, & a&m taking all the good players
with the recruiting butch has done strong would atleast put out a killer defense i know that
also another team that should think about hiring him if he ends up on the market at the end of the yr south carolina assuming spurrier retires

I don't think you can realistically sell him to UTK people after seeing what he has done at Texas. If you don't cut it in the Big 12 you aren't going to in the SEC.

I think we'd make an attempt at Patterson, long shot, but worth it.

That would be a great hire. Patterson with the full backing of a University like Tenn would be an awesome combination.

He actually wanted the job, but our dumbass AD went with Dooley instead.
I was absolutely terrified that he'd end up at Florida, can you imagine the horrors he would unleash there?

The Texas AD getting fired was pretty much Strong's obituary as Coach at Texas.

didn't Strong just get there? not sure why any coach would want to go to Texas if already talking about firing a coach after couple of games his 2nd season. lol

gary patterson seems like a pipe dream tho imo he's having enough success where he is why leave? same with mark dantonio, jim mora etc

The story is that Briles was offended that texass wanted him to interview for the position. He felt his resume and results on the field were more than enough. He told them to frick off.
As for Patterson the story as reported by Chip Brown (Horns 24/7) is the the AD and others in power at texass thought hiring a coach from TCU was below them. Chip Brown was on the radio in Houston and shared that story on Sports 610. Jack Arute and others talked about it also. Patterson was talked about by the fans but he was never seriously considered by texass.

It's a long shot, like I said, but I don't think the alumni would accept Dave Hart not making a sincere attempt at him. He's shown serious interest in the Tennessee job before, when we offered him a lot less money than we would now.
Fuentes would be my 2nd choice.

I don't know if strong would get a job offer that good. I think he could be a great DC.
