Ahh, so this is what Georgia does. They rely on others to do what they can’t.

No wonder 1980 has been so long ago.

I agree it wasn't a hail Mary and that is an important distinction. But y'all benefited from Aranda's brain fart of playing press coverage there more than anything imo

That isnt true at all.

It's literally what the play is called, a Hail Mary.

quote:

They were throwing a long bomb whether Smith beat Stingley or not, look at the routes ran by the other receivers plus the fact that they were down 12 with 1:34 remaining.

The play is called 4 verticals and gets run at any time in the game, including the 1st play of some games.

Really ? LSU scores at Will in the 4th. The Tide D was chasing. What makes you think they could ever make a stop and be in a position to win ?

Definition of a Hail Mary

quote:

A Hail Mary pass or Hail Mary route is a very long forward pass in American football, made in desperation with only a small chance of success, especially at or near the end of a half.

A very long forward pass: Check

Made in desperation: Check

Only a small chance of success: Check, if Stingley doesnt get burned so badly.

At or near the end of a half: Check

Was that the play call? I just used that as an example. Never really looked into what other routes were run. Players run go routes in a variety of plays.

Someone called a play a Hail Mary. I posted the gif to show it was obviously not a Hail Mary.

You butted into the conversation and started getting pissy about it without even knowing why it was being posted.

And you think the other person is agitated?

Looking at the gif again, the receiver on the opposite side seems to be doing a deep square in while the other 3 receivers are doing the same thing that they would do in 4 verticals.

How sports deprived are we to even be discussing this?

I was going off his description.

I looked and don't think it was a classic 4 verticals as it looks like there are 2 guys on the opposite side of the field who are stacked and 1 of them broke towards the middle as the ball was being thrown.

I'm not good at that kind of stuff. Hail Mary and 4 verticals is just the easy stuff.

I only brought up 4 verticals because it was my goto play in NCAA.

I'm betting the guy who broke to the middle would have been the intended target if Devonta hadn't got open.

This is true. You saw how terrified they were on here of a possible rematch until Bama gave up and lost to auburn

It's more your general demeanor

you're obviously very upset about something, i'm assuming it's something else because getting as upset as you are over whether or not a play qualified as a hail mary is so stupid.

Agree but we'll give them their one squeaker vs. a crippled defense.

That wasn't on Stingley, any Pop Warner coach knows not to play press coverage in that situation even if you've got Revis out there, unlike Aranda with his $2.5 mil
