You know you Alabama folks, or in more accurately, some Alabama folks taking shots at Louisiana is getting old. I could look at the history of the USA and while every state has some warts, the 2 that have the worst history are one state that immediately borders LA and the other one borders that state that borders LA. Of course, I want mention any names but anyone who has studied US History can figure it out.
Be careful when you start throwing things at other people because chances are there can be return incoming being directed back at you.
Yes, Louisiana Acadian ancestors who settled some 25 Parishes SW of New Orleans and West of Baton Rogue to Lafayette have a rather distinct accent, that does not mean they are backwards or ignorant people because they have an accent that is different than any standard Southern accent like Marty Smith which you find in MS, AL, TN, GA, SC, rural VA, etc.
And for the record, I am not of Acadian or Cajun French ancestry. If you watched the True South Episode about New Orleans Italian restaurants, you would get close to my dialect so to speak or accent, which sure the hell is not anything like rural white Southerners across the South.
