And thus was a lock to be good at intercollegiate athletics
What a steaming pile of BS. They spend so much and are not top half in the SEC in any of the big 3 sports
All they do is pay coaches and give out easy wins. Thanks ags

Ags don't lose, just run out of time

i guess they're right when they claim to be the best job in sports. zero standards, low expectations, massive payday. great work if you can get it.

Will you let your coach stay on thru the NIT or will you pay him extra to leave even earlier?
And let me guess, Phil Jackson will be coming in to bring a Natty to College Station

Does that department have an empty trophy case like the athletic dept?

We historically haven’t been good at basketball. Sometimes decent. I thought Arkansas was good at basketball, but apparently y’all suck also.
Congrats on the win tonight though.

You should be nice to A&M fans tonight instead of being mean. Without them you’d only have 2 SEC wins so far this season.

I think that actually gets to the point of my OP. You've had oil money for decades and have never been good at anything ever

Tell me more about your point, then.
How many decades are you talking about here?
The student body and alumni base was historically tiny up until the 1970s, when it finally expanded.
Football and Baseball are usually pretty good, and better than basketball. Other sports have had good showings as well. The record books show overall pretty good performance. Not sure how you define never been good at anything ever…

Don't they beat Arky every single year in football? I guess money wasn't a total waste.
All joking aside. Last Fall, I read that Aggies ranked #4 in total conference football wins since 2012 when they joined the SEC. They were behind Bama, GA, LSU. And one above us. So, they aren't bottom half in football at least.

Op forgot your 1-11 record vs Aggies since we joined the league.

They'd rather spend time diddling each others' buttholes than be good at sports. Can't have both.
It was a sad day when they were let in the conference.

We are pretty good at baseball, and this year's team could be better than any since the 1990's. We've never really been good at basketball. Gillespie left when he had the chance, as did Turgeon. As for football, we were pretty good when I was in school. We seem to be inconsistent.
We will see what Elko can do. He might be good, and he might not.

Tons of money, but can't get enough elite talent to win anything significant. They get really good coaches that realize the limitations and then get out of Dodge. They are just too weird and cult-ish.
Good at times, but never sustained success. Sad, but true with all that money.

Wasn't Jimbo pulling in top classes?
I don't think it's a talent problem
